  • Patent number: 5908488
Abstract: The magnesium melting furnace (1) has a plurality of chambers. The material to be melted is fed into a melting chamber (2) through a charging chute (20), one end of which terminates under the surface of the melting bath. The melt is slowly transferred into a holding chamber (4) through a passage (3) situated in the lower third of a dividing wall (11) above a layer of impurities settling at the bottom (14) of the melting chamber (2). The melt slowly flows through the holding chamber (4), with impurities rising to the surface or settling on the bottom (15). The purified melt flows through a second passage (5) situated in the lower third of a second dividing wall (12) into a metering chamber (6). The melt can be removed from the metering chamber (6) through a transfer pipe (28) using a metering pump (27). The magnesium melting furnace (1) makes it possible to simultaneously melt, purify and remove the magnesium in metered quantities.

  • Patent number: 5443383
Abstract: The pusher type furnace comprises an entry chamber (2) associated with a charging device (30) to transfer charge holding devices (a through q) carrying the charges to be heat-treated. The entry chamber is followed by a rectilinear heat treatment chamber (3) and the latter by an exit chamber (4). The entry chamber and the exit chamber may each be separated from the heat treatment chamber by means of doors (15, 16). A pusher device (5) operating in a cyclic mode pushes all charge holding devices in each cycle forward by the length of one charge holding device in the direction of charge travel (X). For separate temperature and atmosphere control in subsequent sections (8, 9 and 10) of the heat treatment chamber (3), two doors (11, 12) are provided.

  • Patent number: 4306858
Abstract: A burner housing lodged in a furnace wall comprises a nest of coaxial tubes including an inner gas-supply tube terminating in a burner head, an intermediate air-supply tube extending past that head to form a combustion chamber, and an outer tube defining with the intermediate tube a return duct for combustion gases. The metallic intermediate tube is provided with thermally conductive vanes facilitating the preheating of the entering combustion air by the high-temperature exhaust gases whose residual heat is then utilized to preheat the incoming fuel gas in a heat exchanger laterally connected with the outer tube. An ancillary burner at the opposite end of the inner tube directs a pilot flame toward the burner head.
