Abstract: A device for harvesting electrical energy from movement of a prosthetic limb. The device including a generator and a controller. The generator adapted to attach to a prosthetic limb. The generator comprising a magnetic linear motor that is configured to generate electrical energy in response to movement of a portion of the prosthetic limb. The controller is electrically connected to the generator and configured to provide electrical energy to a power supply of the prosthetic limb.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an orthotic (or brace) and/or prosthetic ankle joint and associated methods adapted to enable adjustment of a talus section or ankle portion or brace with respect to a tibial section of the orthotic (or brace) and/or prosthetic ankle joint. The talus section or ankle portion of the orthotic (or brace) and/or prosthetic ankle joint is movably coupled to the tibial section with the alignment between the talus section and tibial section being adjustable between various positions by disengagement or engagement of a lock of an adjustment mechanism. As the lock is disengaged, the talus section is enabled to pivot with respect to the tibial section in at least one direction as the user moves along a slope.
Abstract: In one aspect, methods of diagnosing a subject as having Alzheimer's disease and prognosing a subject as being at risk of progressing to Alzheimer's disease are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises determining one or more of the level of expression of rhotekin 2 (RTKN2), the level of expression of microtubule-associated Ser/Thr kinase 4 (MAST4), the level of binding of forkhead box O1 (FOXO1) to the RTKN2 promoter, and the level of binding of amyloid precursor protein (APP) to the MAST4 promoter in a sample from the subject.
Abstract: Described herein are devices and methods used for providing comfort to an infant, and in particular, to devices and methods for introducing a therapy protocol to an infant in, for example, a neonatal intensive care unit.
Abstract: In one aspect, compositions for promoting hemostasis are provided. In some embodiments, the composition comprises a porous non-fibrous substrate impregnated with a hemostatic agent, wherein the porous non-fibrous substrate comprises a hydrophilic polyurethane foam. Methods of promoting hemostasis in a subject using such compositions, and methods of manufacturing such compositions, are also provided.
