  • Patent number: 6308819
Abstract: The invention relates to an advancing tailpiece of a continuous belt conveyor system used in the mining industry. The advancing tailpiece is supported by telescopic booms extending from a support structure rising from the base of a tow car. The telescoping booms are pivotally connected to the support structure and the advancing tailpiece. The advancing tailpiece further includes a mechanical arm pivotally connected to the advancing tailpiece and having a telescopic boom. Carrying idler assemblies are loaded on the mechanical arm which is used to position the carrying idler assembly for attachment to an intermediate conveyor section of the continuous belt conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5975283
Abstract: An endless belt conveyor including an independently supported first support pulley vertically and laterally displaced from a second support pulley. An endless belt including bulk material carrying compartments entrained around the first and second support pulleys and which is engaged by the full width of said support pulleys. The endless belt includes a radius of curvature near the top of the vertical run of a predetermined size such that the bulk material carried in the endless belt is not expel due to centrifugal force. A portion of the endless belt entrained over the first support pulley has a radius of curvature of a predetermined size such that the material carried in the endless belt is expelled due to centrifugal force.

  • Patent number: 5855467
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pivoted lifting device having a main support frame selectively pivotable about a horizontal axis and engagement arms connected to the main support frame by a pivot pin. The engagement arms include an engagement surface. The pivoted lifting device allows the entire engagement surface to contact an article prior to the article being moved from an at rest position. The invention includes hydraulically actuated spring biased shaft having an unlocked position and also a locked position wherein it is located adjacent the engagement arms to lock the engagement arms in an upright position.

  • Patent number: 5794721
Abstract: A system is provided for automatically maintaining the drill steel on its proper path during drilling. The drill is mounted at the end of an extendable boom, the extension of which can be controlled hydraulically. The orientation of the drill steel with respect to the boom is also controlled hydraulically. The boom can be elevated by a hydraulic system to drive the drill steel into the strata above. The position of the drill is calculated by a controller by means of several sensors. The controller then controls the extension of the boom and boom angle as well as the orientation of the drill with respect to the boom in order to maintain the drill steel in the proper position throughout the drilling process.

  • Patent number: 5312206
Abstract: A temporary support for a mine roof is mounted on a mobile roof bolter, and includes a main support frame pivotably connected to the bolter, a main support beam and a ground contacting beam, both extending along the same axis in front of the main support frame, and connected to each other and to the main support frame by a scissors pivot joint and a leveling pivot joint, respectively. When the scissors pivot joint opens and closes, the main support beam and ground contact beam raise and lower with respect to each other and with respect to the ground. A cross beam is mounted on the main support beam and transverse to the axis thereof, and raises and lowers in the same plane with respect to the mine face, to contact and support the mine roof. For a high lift version, the scissors pivot joint is telescopically extendable.
