  • Patent number: 4638877
Abstract: A vertical steering axle rigidly connected with a steering frame of a roller vehicle, for example of a vibratory tandem roller, is rotatably and axially slidingly mounted in a guide bushing pendulously connected to a vehicle frame. An elastomeric element between the vehicle frame and the steering axle is arranged coaxially to the steering axle above an upper end face thereof and, on one side, is non-rotatably connected with this upper end face.

  • Patent number: 4510815
Abstract: Two flyweight shafts 12,22 are coupled by means of gears 18,30 each attached to one flyweight shaft 12,22 and two intermediate gears 54,56 each engaging one of these gears 18,30 and mesh with each other. Each of the intermediate gears 54, 56 is mounted on one of the oscillating cranks 32, 34 pivotably mounted on the associated flyweight shaft 12 and 22, respectively. The oscillating cranks 32 and 34 are held parallel to each other and can be pivoted to effect a relative phase displacement of the flyweight shafts 12, 22. The oscillating cranks 32,34 are provided with counterweights 62,64 and are thereby mass balanced to prevent oscillations from becoming effective on the oscillating cranks 32,34 and thus on the adjusting mechanism 60 during vibratory operation due to intertial forces.

  • Patent number: 4505356
Abstract: An ergonomically advantageous operator's seat and controls arrangement for tandem road rollers comprises on the transverse center line of an operator's platform operator's seats arranged side by side and rotatable about vertical axes. A control stick pivotable in two mutually orthogonal directions is located on the longitudinal center line of the operator's platform in the middle between the operator's seats. Two steering devices are mounted with their steering columns rotatable about a longitudinal, central axis on two opposite transverse sides of the platform. Thus by rotation of the seats through 180.degree., four possible seat positions for the operator are achieved. By pivoting the control stick towards the respective occupied seat and by corresponding rotation of one steering device to in front of this seat, all controls are always within easy reach of the operator.

  • Patent number: 4505355
Abstract: A towing circuit (20) for a hydrostatic travelling drive system with a prime mover, a variable displacement pump (3) and a travel motor (2) supplied thereby, a parking brake (6) arranged to be applied by a brake valve (9) and, optionally, a steering booster (30) and differential gear locking means (40) actuated by a change-over valve (34) has its inlets connected to the travel motor (2) through shut-off valve means (22). A filling pump (4) is connected to supply conduits (7,32) in which the brake valve (9) and the change-over valve (34), respectively, are arranged. Feeding conduits (26,45) provided with check valves open into these supply conduits (26,45). The feeding conduits (26,45) are connected with connecting conduits (21a,21b) governed by the shut-off valve means (22). During towing operation, the travel motor (2) driven by the wheels (1) generates the auxiliary pressures in the supply conduits (7,32) required for the operation of the steering booster (30) and the differential gear locking means (40).

  • Patent number: 4440034
Abstract: An eccentric vibrating machine which includes parallel shafts each carrying an eccentric mass. A gear rotatably journalled on a first of the shafts is drivingly connected to the second shaft for mutual rotation of the gear and second shaft. A shifting coupling is mounted on the first shaft and is selectively engageable with the gear at multiple angular positions around the gear to couple the first shaft to the gear and thereby selectively vary the phase angle relationship of the eccentric masses carried on the two shafts. A manual shifting control device is carried on the first shaft, and can be manually actuated to selectively engage the shifting coupling with the gear.

  • Patent number: 4302129
Abstract: A vibratory compacting roller adapted to be coupled to a prime mover and equipped with hydrostatic drive and vibrator, both drivingly connected to a hydraulic power generator located on said prime mover, is provided with recessed tamping elements distributed in parallel adjacent rows around the periphery of the roller cylinder face with a peripheral offset between adjacent rows. The tamping elements are of trapezoidal design with a semi-circular recess extending centrally from the base to the short side, said recess rendering a vibrational compacting roller with tamping elements equal in weight to a plain vibratory compacting roller of the same over-all diameter.

  • Patent number: 4156575
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety device in road rollers, which have a guide rod with a guide handle so that they can be guided by an operator walking in front of or behind the road roller, and which are driven by an engine through drive transmission means arranged to be disabled, said safety device comprising a sensor element, which extends substantially along the length of the guide handle and responds to the operator grasping the guide handle, and further comprising servo means controlled by the sensor element and adapted to disable the drive transmission means upon releasing of the guide handle.

  • Patent number: 4149253
Abstract: A soil compactor has (1) an apparatus preceding it to measure characteristics of the soil significant to the compaction operation, and/or (2) an apparatus following it to measure characteristics of the soil after compaction. The soil compactor has one or more controls over the compaction operation. The controls are operated in accordance with the measurement indications of said apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4067244
Abstract: A vibratory plate includes a ground plate, a vibration generator adjacent the front of the ground plate and a motor driving the vibration generator. The ground plate includes a sole plate, an upwardly inclined portion at the rear of the sole plate, two successive upwardly inclined portions at the front of the sole plate and an upwardly and rearwardly inclined portion from the front of the ground plate to the casing of the vibration generator. Extending downwardly from the casing of the vibration generator to the ground plate are supporting ribs positioned in the planes of the bearings of the vibration generator. A transverse rib extends upwardly from the ground plate at the rear of the supporting ribs. The ground plate, the ribs and the casing are an integral unit. In one embodiment that unit is cast aluminum with a steel facing on the bottom of the sole plate. In a second embodiment they are fiberglass reinforced plastic with a steel facing on the bottom of the sole plate.

  • Patent number: 4058019
Abstract: An improved unbalance vibration generator adapted to be driven at varying rotational speeds while maintaining a substantially constant exciting force throughout a range of rotational speeds. The generator includes an unbalance mass comprising first and second unbalance masses journaled for rotation and angularly offset from each other 180.degree. about the axis of rotation. The first unbalance mass is journaled on the axis of rotation and the second unbalance mass is radially movable in relation thereto. This radial movement is restrained by cam and spring means which provide predetermined non-linear restraint of the second unbalance mass relative to the first unbalance mass.

  • Patent number: 4048860
Abstract: To determine standardized values of noise levels of machines a sound recording and reproducing instrument is employed to record the sound emission from a sound source of the type to be investigated. The recording and reproducing instrument is used as a reference source to obtain measured values of sound level on a standard and on a freely selected measuring place under standard conditions. The difference of the two values is applied to the value of sound level measured for the machine to be investigated on the selected measuring place under said standard conditions to yield standardized values of sound level.
