Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a power converter comprising a first stage regulated DC-DC converter configured to convert an input DC voltage to an intermediate DC voltage; a second stage open-loop DC-DC converter configured to convert the intermediate DC voltage to an output DC voltage or an output DC current to a load; and a controller configured to control the regulated DC-DC converter to regulate the output DC voltage or the output DC current by adjusting the intermediate DC voltage, based on measurements of the output DC voltage or the output DC current and a target output DC voltage or a target output DC current. The disclosure further relates to the method of converting an input DC voltage to an output DC voltage or current using the two-stage DC-DC power converter architecture.
