Abstract: A height-adjustable carrying harness for a rucksack having a pair of shoulder straps connected together at a yoke. The yoke is engageable with a harness engaging system secured to the rear wall of the rucksack. The harness engaging system is comprised of a plurality of overlapping slat which define open ended sleeves into a selected one of which the yoke is inserted. The yoke is held in the sleeve by a tie strap which is fastened to a buckle located below the harness engaging system. The overlapping slats allow for fine height adjustment of the shoulder straps.
