  • Patent number: 6237980
Abstract: A bed liner for use with a vehicle cargo bed is provided, wherein the cargo bed has a bottom wall, a front wall and side walls. The cargo bed liner is a relatively rigid body with an inner surface and an outer surface and one or more areas which engage the cargo bed in use. The body comprises a bottom wall member for engaging the bottom wall of the vehicle cargo bed along at least a portion of the outer surface, two side wall members connected to the bottom wall member and extending upwardly therefrom, and a front wall member connected to the bottom wall member also extending upwardly therefrom. The side and front wall members are adapted to closely follow the walls of the vehicle cargo bed. A wear inhibiting surface is provided which covers at least selected portions of the outer surface. The wear inhibiting surface has a relatively high coefficient of friction and is relatively soft in comparison to the relatively rigid body.

  • Patent number: 5308133
Abstract: A combination truck bed liner and fastening system for truck beds having one or more substantially vertical bed sidewalls and a front wall having a top rail with an outwardly facing lip. The combination includes a truck bed liner having a floor and integrally attached side and front walls extending upwardly therefrom to upper edges, and at least one slot formed adjacent that upper edge. At least one resilient snap-type clip having a hook end and stay end is provided, wherein compressive force is applied between the hook and stay ends in use by the inwardly biased nature of the clip. In attached condition, the hook end of the clip extends outwardly to lockingly overlie the truck bed rail, while the stay end overlies at least a portion of the upper edge of the liner and includes an outwardly protruding stay which interacts with the recess in the truck bed liner. As a result, the clip is compressively fitted over the upper edge of the liner and the rail to hold the liner in place without a need for drilling.

  • Patent number: 5046775
Abstract: A fastening device is provided for securing of liners to the interior of pickup truck cargo beds. The fastening devices include a base plate which overlies the outer surface of a bed liner and a locking tongue projecting laterally from a bottom of the plate to extend through an aperture in the liner sidewall and to mechanically couple with a flange of the cargo bed sidewall to effect clamping of the liner to the flange. The locking tongue is formed with a peripheral edge surface that includes a locking surface angularly disposed with respect to the base plate forming in cooperation therewith for receiving edge portions of the liner and flange in clamped relationship, a camming surface that rides against an edge of the aperture in the liner during insertion to facilitate assembly and a locking surface that automatically engages the liner to maintain the fastening device in locking engagement.
