Abstract: Adjustable frames for use with hanging folders are disclosed herein. An example frame disclosed herein includes an a first end portion including a first side and a second side, a second end portion including a third side and a fourth side, the second end portion and the first end portion disposed within a plane, a first track disposed between the first side and the third side, and a second track disposed between the second side and the fourth side, the first track and the second track to enable the frame to move between a contracted position and an expanded position within the plane, the contracted position corresponding to a first distance between the first end portion and the second end portion, the expanded position corresponding to a second distance between the first end portion and the second end portion, the second distance greater than the first distance.

Abstract: Adjustable frames for use with hanging folders and related methods are disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes an adjustable frame for hanging folders. The frame is to couple to a first rail and a second rail spaced relative to each other to cooperatively receive a first folder. The frame is movable between an expanded position and a contracted position to enable the first and second rails to receive a second folder sized differently relative to the first folder. The example apparatus also includes a receptacle disposed on the frame to receive a first clip for coupling the first rail to the frame.

Abstract: Adjustable rods for use in a filing system are disclosed. An example adjustment member to be coupled to a rod for use in a filing system includes a hook extending laterally from an end of the adjustment member and a mounting portion including a means for mounting the adjustment member to the rod. The example adjustment member also includes a resilient structure coupled to the hook and the mounting portion. In this example, the resilient structure permits the hook to dynamically move longitudinally and adjust an effective length of the adjustment member by adjusting the length of the resilient structure in response to a lateral displacement imposed on the rod.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use with a trimmer to produce a plurality of books having different trim sizes are disclosed. An example method includes obtaining recipient data; based on the recipient data, generating an order to produce first books and second books, the first books having a first size and the second books having a second size, the second size different from the first size; and producing the first books and the second books in accordance with the order by: actuating a first backstop to enable a first book of the first books to engage the first backstop; trimming the first book with a cutting device; and actuating a second backstop to enable a second book of the second books to engage the second backstop; and trimming the second book with the cutting device, the first backstop at a first distance from the cutting device and the second backstop at a second distance from the cutting device.

Abstract: Apparatus for use with a trimmer to produce a plurality of books having different trim sizes are described. In a described example, a trimmer for use with a bindery system includes a cutting surface and a first movable backstop adjacent the cutting surface to be engaged by a first book. Additionally, the trimmer includes a second movable backstop adjacent the cutting surface and spaced from the first movable backstop. The second movable backstop is to be engaged by a second book. Further, the trimmer includes a cutter movable relative to the cutting surface to cut a face of the first book to form a book having a first size and to cut a face of the second book to form a book having a second size different than the first size.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are adjustable tab mechanisms for a hanging folder. An example tab mechanism includes an indexing portion movable between an expanded position and a retracted position. The example tab mechanism also includes a support portion positioned in a pocket formed by a cover panel of the folder. The support portion has a first fold extending over a hanging member.

Abstract: File folder hanging rods and related methods are disclosed. An example hanging rod to hang a file folder includes a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and outer flanges extending between the first end and the second end. The example hanging rod includes a middle portion between and protruding from the outer flanges. The middle portion has an M-shaped cross-section to increase a rigidity of the hanging rod. The example hanging rod includes a first notch adjacent the first end and a second notch adjacent the second end that enable the hanging rod to hang from the support structure.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to produce a books in which interior staples are hidden. One disclosed example apparatus includes a sensor to detect a position of a book being produced on a binding line. The example book includes signatures coupled by a fastener. The fastener separates a first signature portion from a second signature portion of a first signature. The example apparatus also includes an adhesive dispenser to dispense adhesive to at least one of on or adjacent the fastener to couple the first signature portion and the second signature portion along a first fold adjacent the fastener. The example apparatus also includes a controller to cause the adhesive dispenser to dispense adhesive based on the position of the book detected by the sensor.

Abstract: Imaging apparatus and methods for bindery systems are disclosed. An example method includes engaging a signature assembly with an end of a separator to cause 1) a first page of the signature assembly to be disposed on a platform and 2) a second page of the signature assembly to be disposed on the side of the platform; drawing the first page toward the platform; and imaging the first page when the first page is on the platform.

Abstract: A lift tab hanging structure is disclosed. An example apparatus includes a hanging member to hang from a support structure and a tab mechanism. The tab mechanism includes a support portion extending over the hanging member to be supported by the hanging member and an indexing portion extending from the support portion. Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for building a custom publication is provided. A user may access a library of electronic source publications having defined units of content within the source publications, the library storing source publication metadata for the defined units of content. The user may select units of content from source publications for inclusion in an unpublished custom publication. The unpublished custom publication may be published in an electronic or printed format, wherein publishing the unpublished custom publication comprises applying consistent styling to common structural elements in the set of custom publication units of content to create a published custom publication with consistent styling.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for increasing co-mailing discounts are disclosed. An example method includes determining a first number of first books associated with a first pool, the first books to be addressed for delivery within a geographic region associated with a postal discount. The example method further includes identifying a filler from a second pool to fill open pockets associated with the first pool. The filler corresponds to a first type of book associated with the second pool. The example method also includes identifying a second number of second books associated with the filler to be bundled with the first books when the first number of the first books is less than a threshold number of books for the postal discount. The first number of the first books combined with the second number of the second books is at least as great as the threshold number of books.

Abstract: A hanging file folder for mounting to a pair of spaced apart rails is disclosed. The file folder has a first and second rod with a pair of hook portions on opposing ends thereof for engaging the pair of spaced apart rails. The file folder body has first and second walls forming a pocket for holding materials therein, and is assembled such that the pocket is suspended between the first and second rods. At least one of the first and second rods includes a resilient structure for permitting at least one of the hook portions to move longitudinally and adjust an effective length of its rod for accommodating variances in the angle at which folders are mounted on the rails. The resilient structure may include a tension spring, for example. The hook portions may be movably mounted to the rod and may include the resilient mechanism.
