Abstract: A joist includes an outer top chord and a bottom chord; and an end configuration with at least one end of the joist and including a board connecting the top and bottom chords, an inner top chord underlying the outer top chord and defining therewith a double top chord section, a post extending between the bottom chord and the double top chord section, the double top chord section extending outwardly past the post.
Abstract: A leveling blade mounts onto a support bracket of a vibrating screed, and a vibrating screed includes the same. The leveling blade has a substantially vertical portion for mounting onto the support bracket, as well as a substantially slanted portion and a substantially horizontal portion, which results in the leveling blade having a particular profile. The vibrating screed includes also a vibration-generating assembly, being operatively mounted onto the support bracket of the vibrating screed for imparting vibrations to the leveling blade via the support bracket so as to enable carrying out a surfacing of a substantially malleable material with the vibrating screed by passing the leveling blade provided with vibrations about the substantially malleable material. A kit is also provided for assembling such a vibrating screed.
Abstract: A mounting surface for mounting a plurality of LEDs has a plurality of orientable lenses each individually affixed about a single LED. Each orientable lens has a primary reflector and a refracting lens that direct light emitted from a single LED to a reflective surface of the orientable lens that reflects the light off a primary LED light output axis.
Abstract: A geo-synthetic composite insulation panel for roofing applications is provided. The panel comprises a bottom layer made of an insulating material and a top layer made from a geo-textile laminated on top of the bottom layer. The geo-textile material provides an absorption zone for any adhesive used to glue waterproof membranes onto the insulation panel. This allows a better redistribution of loads on the insulation panel and increases the resistance of the material to punctures that the surface of the waterproof membrane may be subject to. The material, by its nature, will enhance the whole integrity of the roofing system.
Abstract: A steam humidifier provided by the present invention has a tank having a reservoir section and a cover removably and sealingly secured thereto. The tank contains water during a humidifying operation in which the humidifier humidifies an indoor environment. The cover has a heating element mounted thereon and extending therefrom into the reservoir section and a steam outlet assembly mounted thereon and extending therethrough into the tank. The heating element evaporates at least a portion of the water during the humidifying operation into steam output through the steam outlet assembly to humidify the indoor environment.
Abstract: An anchor for mounting to a hollow wall made of friable material comprises a proximal flanged end adapted to be engaged by a rotatable tool to rotate the anchor about a longitudinal axis thereof and to cause is to gradually engage the wall. The anchor also includes a distal end adapted to cut through the wall as the anchor is rotated, and a shank extending between the proximal and distal ends. The shank includes at least one expandable leg that is in a collapsed position thereof when the anchor is rotated to mount it to the wall and that is located distally beyond a non visible surface of the wall once the anchor has been mounted to the wall and is in a first position thereof. The wall anchor includes an outer thread that securely engages the wall. A threaded fastener, e.g.
Abstract: A composite material comprising a plurality of fiber tape strips woven or braided together. Each of the plurality of fiber tape strips is made of a single layer of unidirectional fibers. The fibers are at least partially embedded in a thermoplastic matrix. A tubular composite part is made from this composite material and of an internal film. A method of manufacturing the composite material comprises weaving or braiding the fiber tape strips, especially in the form of a tube. A method of manufacturing a composite part comprises pressurizing the film inside the tube while heating both the tube and the film up to their forming temperature so as to bond the film to the woven fiber tape strips.
Abstract: Framing component with built-in-thermal break, comprising a structural member and an insulation member secured to the structural member on an inside of a building, the structural member being made in wood, the insulation member being made in a thermal break material; the structural member and the insulation member forming a one-piece insulated framing component, a bearing depth of the component being smaller than a bearing depth of the wall.
Abstract: Described are a tertiary disinfection system and process for treating a liquid effluent from a domestic secondary treatment unit. The liquid effluent has pathogenic micro-organisms, remaining suspended solids and dissolved organic pollutants. The system has an inlet, a subterranean initial treatment zone filled with a filtering material for removing some suspended solids, dissolved organic pollutants and pathogenic micro-organisms. The initial treatment zone allows the liquid effluent to percolate downward. The system also has a subterranean polishing zone extending horizontally outward from the initial treatment zone, and filled with a filtering material having pore sizes allowing upward capillary dispersion of the liquid effluent. The system also has a subterranean aeration zone having an interface with the initial treatment zone and the polishing zone, to provide aeration enabling aerobic accommodation of microflora for disinfection of the effluent.

Abstract: An expansion wedge anchor for insertion in a hole delimited by a wall comprises an expander member and an expansion member, the expander member being provided at a leading end of the expander member, the expander member comprising a flaring end, the expansion member being expandable at a trailing end thereof and being adapted to engage the wall of the hole when the expander member is positioned in the hole, wherein upon longitudinal withdrawal of the expander member from the hole, the expander member displaces longitudinally relative to the expansion member with the flaring end thereof gradually causing the trailing end of the expansion member to expand, whereby a trailing edge of the expansion member engages the wall of the hole. The trailing end is adapted, when expanded by the flaring member, to extend at an angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of said expander member.
