Patent number: 5788624Abstract: The present invention relates to a magnetic therapy and a physiotherapeutic device performing such a magnetic therapy. The therapy involves the application of magnetism which provides a transient penetration of magnetic flux by means of a magnetic field scanning of a whole human body or a portion thereof in a three-dimensional gradient magnetic field. The physiotherapeutic treatment device comprises (1) a bed; (2) two magnets straddling on either side of the bed; (3) a mechanical-electrical transmission system; and (4) an electric control system. Therapeutic and health-care effect is achieved by means of magnetic field scanning of the human body with the body lying on the bed facing upward while the two magnets, at properly adjusted heights and actuated by the control panel, move horizontally along the human body receiving the treatment. Clinical tests demonstrate that this invention has remarkable therapeutic effects upon the treatment of a variety of disorders.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1996Date of Patent: August 4, 1998Assignee: Hangcheng LuInventors: Hangcheng Lu, Baojun Lin, Guozhang Liu, Jing Zhao

Patent number: 5432864Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus and method for verifying the identity of a person by comparing that person's face (or selected facial features) with an image generated using data stored on an identification card, badge, tag or other escort memory carried by the person. Both automatic and manual verification apparatus are disclosed, and both employ principal component methods that reduce the amount of data required to be carried by the bearer to under 100 bytes. The process of verifying identity involves combining data from the small escort memory with other image-related data that are general in nature and that are stored at the verification location. The system of the present invention is expected to find use in a wide variety of cases where a person's identity is to be established (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1992Date of Patent: July 11, 1995Assignees: Daozheng Lu, Simon W.
