    Abstract: Spent motor oil can be reclaimed by a process comprising heating the oil to cause precipitation of a portion of the suspended solids and then treating the oil after separation from the solids with up to about 6% by volume of concentrated sulfuric acid to complete precipitation of the solids. The oil is neutralized with an organic amine to provide a finished product suitable for reuse as a motor oil or as a blending stock for reformulation as a motor oil.
