Patent number: 4846733Abstract: An accessory fuse block is provided for incorporating an electrical accessory into an automotive vehicle. The accessory fuse block comprises a housing and a plurality of terminals mounted therein. The terminals comprise a pair of spaced apart blade terminals for electrical connection to the fuse receiving terminals on the automotive vehicle. The accessory fuse block further comprises a pair of primary fuse receiving terminals which are in electrical connection to the respective blade terminals, and which are constructed to electrically engage the terminals of an automotive fuse. The fuse block further comprises a pair of accessory fuse receiving terminals which also are constructed to receive the terminals of an automotive fuse. A jumper is provided to electrically connect one accessory fuse receiving terminal to one blade terminal of the accessory fuse block.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1988Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Lucas Electrical Electronic Systems LimitedInventors: George J. Baisz, Stephen A. Colleran

Patent number: 4788444Abstract: A sensor for detecting liquid at a predetermined level in a container, including an emitter, a receiver sensitive to the emission of the emitter, a support member positioned at the exterior of a region of the wall of the container transparent to the emission with, the emission of the emitter so disposed in relation to the interior surface of the wall region of the container that when the region is a container/liquid interface then emissions from the emitter generally in the direction of the emission axis will pass through the interface and will be dissipated in the liquid, but when the interface is a container/air interface such emissions will be totally internally reflected from the interface.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1986Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Assignee: Lucas Electrical Electronics and Systems LimitedInventor: David G. Patent number: 4703567Abstract: A heat generating electrical device is connected to a heat sink of metal. An element, preferably formed of copper or silver and plated to increase ease of soldering and corrosion resistance, is mechanically anchored in the thickness of a heat sink (e.g. of aluminum or steel) so that part of the element is accessible. Then the electrical component is soldered to the accessible part of the element. The mechanical anchoring may be accomplished by punching, drilling, or the like, and locating in the hole so formed a copper stud having a head abutted against a plate, and then compressing the assembly mechanically to anchor the stud in the plate, with the electrical components soldered to the stud head.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1986Date of Patent: November 3, 1987Assignee: Lucas Electrical Electronics and Systems LimitedInventors: Alan R. Moore, Graham W. Simcox, Allan K. Thomas

Patent number: 4683746Abstract: A method of monitoring torque in a drive transmission incorporating a friction clutch assembly having a two part rotatable drive transmitting member the two parts of which are relatively movable against the action of damper springs comprising monitoring the extent of the relative movement of said two parts (16, 17) of said drive transmitting member. The invention also resides in a friction clutch assembly having a two part, rotatable, drive transmitting member, the two parts being movable relative to one another against the action of damper springs, the clutch including a plurality of angularly spaced reference teeth on each part of said two part member respectively and a sensor relative to which said two part member rotates, said sensor monitoring said teeth and in use producing, at a plurality of points in each revolution of the two part member, an output representative of the relative positions of said parts of said two part member.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1986Date of Patent: August 4, 1987Assignee: Lucas Electrical Electronics and Systems LimitedInventors: Christopher V.
