Abstract: A skin care composition is disclosed comprising at least one exopolysaccharide (EPS) originating from a microbial mat, the EPS being in a concentration of about 0.001% w/w to about 1.5% w/w of the composition. Uses and methods of use thereof. In specific embodiments, the EPSs are derived from microorganisms isolated from microbial mats found in French Polynesia. The composition is useful in reducing signs of skin aging and environmental damage by altering skin cell metabolism and improving hydration.
Abstract: A compound of the formula I: R-A-Gly-His-B (I) wherein: A and B are independently of each other a L-lysine residue, a D-lysine residue, or a L- or D-lysine residue in which the NH2 group of the side chain comprises a modification, where-in said modification is (i) a replacement with a hydrogen, (ii) an acetylation, (iii) a benzoylation, or (iv) a palmitoylation; GIy is a glycine residue; His is a L- or D-histidine residue; R is CH3—(CH2)n—CO—, wherein n=2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8; R? is a group of formula (II): N(Z)(Z?) (II) wherein: Z and Z? is hydrogen, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a phenyl group, an hexyl group, a decyl group or an hexadecyl group; or a racemate, an enantiomer or a diastereomer thereof, or mixtures thereof, or a salt thereof.

Abstract: A use of an anti-inflammatory polysaccharides composition comprising fucans and galactans to inhibit the release of one or more of IL-8, PGE2 and VEGF by a cell activated during an inflammatory process and an anti-inflammatory composition comprising a ratio of brown algae fucans/red algae galactans of between about 2.5/1 (w/w) to about 40/1 (w/w), the galactans having a molecular weight higher than about 100 kDa, and the fucans having a molecular weight between about 0.1 kDa and 100 kDa.
Abstract: The invention is related to the necessities of life, especially to cosmetology, pharmacology and, more specifically, to dermatology. This invention is the specific subject of a new use of lignans for making cosmetic, pharmaceutical and especially dermatological compounds, used to reduce sebum secretion through topical application. The invention also involves a cosmetic care process consisting of applying lignans, possibly in the form of cosmetic compounds, on the area of body and/or facial skin to reduce sebum secretion. Regarding this invention, the compounds are used in particular for the care and/or topic treatment of the body and/or face.
