Abstract: Mixed rare earth carbonate may be prepared by mixing a rare earth sulfate solution with a precipitating agent comprising a first sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) solution, to form a first mixture, and generating a higher sulfate rare earth carbonate wet cake from the first mixture. The higher sulfate rare earth carbonate wet cake can be mixed with a second sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) solution to form a second mixture, and a lower sulfate rare earth carbonate can be generated from the second mixture.

Abstract: Doped cerium oxide particles may comprise about 90 weight percent (wt. %) to about 99.9 wt. % cerium oxide (CeO2) and up to about 10 wt. % dopant. Exemplary doped cerium oxide particles may have a BET specific surface area of more than 150 m2/g after calcination at 500° C. for 8 hours. Exemplary doped cerium oxide particles may have an oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of more than 900 ?mol·O2/g after calcination at 500° C. for 8 hours.
