  • Patent number: 4134748
Abstract: A mechanism for operating the molds of a glass molding machine. The glass molding machine includes a base and a table rotatably mounted on the base. The glass forming molds are operatively mounted on the rotary table. A plurality of work stations are provided on the base and cooperate to define glass molding cycle for each of the molds. The table is indexed by a drive through a preselected angle by a drive mechanism so that the molds are each moved to each of the work stations. An over the center linkage is provided for normally holding the molds in a closed position. An operating cylinder is at one of the work stations for selectively opening each mold for removal of the formed glass product during the cycle. The indexing drive moves each of the molds past the opening means at least one time during each cycle, each cycle generally being 720.degree., without opening the mold. The linkage also holds each of the molds in the open position for a selected interval for removal of the formed glass product.

  • Patent number: 4047433
Abstract: A vortex type flowmeter having a body member, a cover member and an interior varying diameter cavity formed in the body member in which fluid is introduced to flow in a generally helical pattern within the cavity, the fluid being introduced at the periphery of the cavity having the largest diameter and the fluid exiting from an aperture at the center of the vortex formed by the helical flow. The flowmeter includes a toothed rotor mounted for rotation within the cavity and the flow of fluid causes the rotor to rotate within the cavity at a rotational rate which is generally directly related to the velocity of flow. The flowmeter is provided with a light-emitting diode and photosensitive transistor combination which senses the passage of each of the teeth as the rotor is rotating within the cavity. This combination is formed as a unitary assembly, a portion of which nests a portion of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 3971480
Abstract: The invention specifically relates to an improved rotary actuator for operating a reciprocating member used for transferring articles from one position to another. The rotary actuator is air driven, and linkage is provided between the actuator and the reciprocating member for uniformly accelerating and decelerating the member between two positions. Cushioning of the actuator also improves the acceleration and deceleration characteristics of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 3953187
Abstract: A control system for operating the ram vertically movable in and out of a glass mold. The control system for operating the ram includes a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic fluid reservoir, and a hydraulic cylinder which is interconnected to the pump and to the reservoir. A vertically reciprocal piston is positioned in the cylinder. Valve means control the flow of hydraulic fluid from the pump and reservoir to the chambers defined on opposite sides of the piston. The operating system includes a first control of hydraulic fluid and fluid pressure to the first chamber and from the second chamber for rapidly lowering or permitting free fall of the ram towards the mold by action of gravity and a second control means of the fluid pressure on both sides of the piston to reduce the speed of the ram to pressing speed and finally to a fixed pressing position.
