Abstract: Provided is a drug delivery system including a soft hydrophilic film layer and a plurality of nanodomains embedded within the film layer, wherein the film layer, having embedded therein the nanodomains, is transparent or translucent, has a thickness of less than 1000 microns, wherein the nanodomains have an average size of less than about of 100 nm, and wherein the nanodomains maintain their structural integrity within the film when stored at room temperature for 1 month or more.
