Patents Assigned to M.A.N. Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH
  • Patent number: 4770133
Abstract: A cylinder liner with a ring-shaped insert. Such inserts ensure that the carbon deposited on the fire land of the piston cannot contact the cylinder surfaces below the insert. The task to be solved by the invention is to simplify and improve the securing of such an insert, on the one hand to facilitate installation and removal and, on the other hand, to ensure greater reliability. Also, the insert is intended to be suitable for retrofitting. Essentially, this is achieved in that the ring-shaped insert is provided at its upper end with a flange that extends over the entire top cross-sectional area of the cylinder liner.

  • Patent number: 4737202
Abstract: A steel with a carbon content of less than 0.3 percent by weight is used for steel-based components which are subjected to hot forming. A predominantly lower bainite structure is achieved by controlled cooling. The advantage is that components, such as truck steering knuckles, which are forged at temperatures of up to about 1300.degree. C., no longer need be subjected to annealing or tempering after cooling in order to possess good ductility in addition to high strength.

  • Patent number: 4716730
Abstract: In a hydrostatic drive one hydrostatic machine (2 and 4) is adapted for absorbing the sustained braking power or energy. The transmission is furthermore provided with a cooler (9) whose two sides are respectively connected via a threshold pressure valve (7 and 8) with one of two branch ducts (3 and 5) which connect the said hydrostatic machine with a second such machine adapted to act as a drive. The pressure threshold valve is made up of a pressure limiting and check valve.

  • Patent number: 4616603
Abstract: A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine has flangeless wet cylinder liners to reduce the size of the engine. Each cylinder liner has a shoulder near its crankcase end for sealing a coolant space around the liner and for compression against a seat of an engine block with an individual cylinder head at its opposite, flangeless cylinder head end. Near the cylinder head ends, the liners have side sealing lands cooperative with sealing lands on a web of the engine block without affixation thereto for sealing the adjacent end of the coolant space, the web being thin because it does not support the cylinder head to reduce further the engine size.
