    Abstract: A venting system includes a venting installation cap assembly for a venting system having at least an outer wall and an inner exhaust tube. The assembly includes an exhaust cap having an exhaust path coupled to the inner exhaust tube defined by a pipe section. A planar support ring having an annulus through which the pipe section passes rests on the outer tube or an adapter to the outer tube. The ring annulus surrounds the pipe section and has a diameter greater than a diameter of the outer wall. The planar support ring includes a plurality of airflow regions, surrounds the exhaust path and providing an airflow path between an exterior and a region between the outer wall and the inner exhaust tube.

    Abstract: A throttled vent termination or cap for use in conjunction with a direct vent appliance and venting system is provided. The direct vent termination includes an inner pipe and a concentric outer housing surrounding the inner pipe to form a void between the inner pipe and the outer housing. The void adapted to provide intake are to the air intake section of the vent system. An end cap is provided at a first end of the outer pipe, the inner pipe to the end cap and having an exhaust opening therein. An intake region is formed in the outer housing providing access to the void. A throttle cover which is configured to be movably positioned and thereafter secured at one of a number of positions over the intake region using a throttle guide is provided to thereby regulate air flow into the void.

A flexible vent tube comprising a sealed non-corrosive material, having a first end and a second end, is positioned between the first end of the venting pipe and the second end of the venting pipe. Adapters are positioned at the ends of the venting pipe. A method comprises routing a flexible venting tube comprising sealed, corrosion resistant venting material through an existing non-flexible double-walled vent comprising non-sealed material.

The chase includes a first end positioned adjacent an appliance installation, a second end exiting a structure and a third end adjacent another appliance. A vent tube comprising a sealed non-corrosive material is provided in the chase between the second end and the third end, itself coupled to a high efficiency appliance. The vent tube has a first end and a second end and is positioned between the second end of the venting pipe and the third end of the venting pipe. The vent tube is coupled to a first appliance and the venting pipe is coupled to a second appliance. A vent cap is coupled to the second end of the first vent tube and to the second end of the venting pipe.

    Abstract: A coupling feature for double-walled pipes. A double-walled vent pipe section has an outer wall with corresponding male and female coupling features formed on opposite ends thereof. The inner wall of the double-walled pipe section has a small ridge formed around the circumference of one end. When pipe sections are coupled together, the male and female coupling features on the outer walls engage, and the ridge on the inner wall of one pipe section engages with the bare inner wall of the other pipe section.

    Abstract: An improved wall thimble as part of a venting apparatus for a heating appliance. Dual functionality is provided in a single wall thimble device by having a vent path for exhausting combustion by-products, and a separate air inlet path to draw in combustion air for use by the heating appliance. The wall thimble is preferably formed as a two-cylindrical part housing such that a first portion can be inserted into a second portion. When a smaller exhaust pipe is routed through the two-part housing, an annular region is formed between the exhaust pipe and the walls of the housing. A first air vent is formed in the first portion to draw combustion air into the annular region from outside. A second air vent is formed in the second portion to route the combustion air from the annular region out through the second air vent to be coupled with the combustion air inlet. A baffle is disposed in the first portion to preheat the combustion air.

When an exhaust pipe is routed through end plates on the housing portions, a closed region is formed between the exhaust pipe and the housing portions. A first air vent is formed in the first or outside portion to draw combustion air into the closed region from outside. A second air vent is formed in the second or inside portion to route the combustion air from the closed region to an opening in the housing where a combustion air inlet pipe is connected.
