  • Patent number: 7513384
Abstract: A container assembly having a lid which connects to an open container. A locking mechanism is employed which preferably includes a slide which cooperates with at least one stop connected to the lid wherein movement of the slide relative to the lid is preferably utilized to disengage the locking mechanism to allow the lid to be unscrewed relative to the container.

  • Patent number: 6866162
Abstract: A container assembly has a lid which connects to an open ended container. The container has a wall which defines a cavity therein and has an outer surface with a plurality of outwardly directed teeth and at least outwardly directed thread. The teeth are located intermediate the threads and a top of the container wall. The lid has an outer wall with inwardly directed teeth which cooperate with the outwardly directed teeth on the exterior surface of the container. The lid also has a first opening in a ridge which allows at least a portion of a tamper indicator to extend therethrough, the tamper indicator, when installed, is biased toward a center of the lid in a first position so that a leg is brought into contact with the teeth on the container. The lid may not be removed without breaking a portion of the tamper indicator. Additionally, the teeth and leg may be configured to allow for the lid to be tightened relative to the container in the first position, but not loosened.

The container has a wall which defines a cavity therein and has an outer surface with a plurality of outwardly directed teeth and at least outwardly directed thread. The teeth are located intermediate the threads and a top of the container wall. The lid has an outer wall with an inwardly directed blade on a leg which cooperates with the outwardly directed teeth on the exterior surface of the container. The lid also has a cutout in a ridge which allows at least a portion of a locking member to extend therethrough, the locking member is normally biased toward a center of the lid in a first position so that the leg is brought into contact with the teeth on the container. The locking member can be moved to a second position to disengage the leg from the teeth to allow rotation in at least one direction.

  • Patent number: 6729491
Abstract: A lid for use with an open top container threadably engages with the open head container to secure the lid to the container. A seal is located between tapered surfaces of the lid and the container member such that compression of the seal occurs gradually as the lid is threadably secured onto the container member. The lid is equipped with a torquing tool which pivots at along a ridge at the edge of the lid. In a stored configuration, the torquing tool has a handle which is at least partially contained within a chamber in the lid. A base of the torquing tool has a top surface which is coplanar with a top surface of a portion the lid in the stored configuration. To utilize the torquing tool, the handle is rotated about the pivot, to an extended position. The handle may then assist an operator in twisting the lid relative to the container member.

  • Patent number: 6170691
Abstract: A container assembly includes a container member having an open end, and a lid threadably engagable with the container member for closing the open end of the container member. A locking member is provided on the lid which is engagable with a latch member located on an upper surface of the container member. The locking member is pivotable about a horizontal axis and prevents rotation of the lid with respect to the container member when the locking member is engaged with the latch member. A seal is provided between the lid and the container member. The seal is located between wall members of the lid and the container member such that the seal is gradually compressed as the lid is threadably secured to the container member.

The seal is located between tapered wall members of the lid and the container member such that the seal is gradually compressed as the lid is threadably secured to the container member. The configuration of the lid and the container member, along with the seal, presents a torturous path for fluid movement, thus effectively sealing the container assembly.

  • Patent number: 5915575
Abstract: A threaded closure assembly includes a first member having an outer surface including a first outwardly directed thread, and an inner surface including a second inwardly directed thread. A unitary closure member for covering an access opening in the first member includes a first inwardly directed thread engageable with the first outwardly directed thread on the first member, and a second outwardly directed thread engageable with the second inwardly directed thread on the first member. A locking mechanism is provided between the closure member and the first member for permitting rotation of the closure member in a first direction, and preventing rotation of the closure member in a second opposite direction. A third set of threads may be provided between the first member and the closure member. The first member can be an open head container, with the closure member formed as a one-piece lid. The threads between the first member and the closure member are synchronized.
