  • Patent number: 5573484
Abstract: An auxiliary handle for a dumbbell includes a pair of weighted hook members each joined to a handle by a threaded stud. The hook members are adapted to engage the handle of a dumbbell. The studs are oppositely threaded so that rotation of the handle in one direction moves the hook members away from each other and into engagement with the dumbbell weights, thus securing the auxiliary handle to the dumbbell. The auxiliary handle may be used by a spotter to assist in handling the dumbbell.

  • Patent number: 5088731
Abstract: An arm exercise machine is shown having a housing with a pivot mechanism therein. Extending from the housing are first and second braces which extend in opposite directions with the pivot there between. A pivot rod is attached to the pivot mechanism and may be rotated about that mechanism by a user grasping the pivot rod. During such rotation, the first and second braces support the housing and counteract the user's rotation.

  • Patent number: 4718664
Abstract: A portable, light weight exercise machine is shown that includes a housing for carriage and storage of various parts which make up the machine. To use the machine, it is placed upon a table and the parts removed from the housing. A resistance device which forms a the major component of the machine is placed into its operating position by rotating a pivot head 180 degrees without the need to assemble or disassemble any parts. Once the resistance device is placed into its operating position, a lever is attached to the pivot head which the user may hold or attach to his or her ankles to exercise his or her upper or lower body while sitting upon the housing to retain it upon the table.
