  • Patent number: 8965388
Abstract: A method and system for determining, for a transmission time interval (TTI), an amount of resource units to be allocated to each cell served by at least one module in a wireless communication network are disclosed. The allocation is based on an estimated resource consumption of each cell, a resource limit of each cell and resource limits of the at least one module. For each TTI, a prioritized list of queues having information to be transmitted is determined, where each queue belongs to a cell of the plurality of cells. Also, for each TTI, in an order of priority of the queues, a number of resource units to be consumed by a queue is determined based at least in part on a number of resource units required to empty the queue.

  • Patent number: 8966608
Abstract: A method and access node for preventing spoofing while connecting subscribers to an Ethernet network. The access node includes a filter mechanism for filtering packets destined to subscribers attached to the access node. The filter mechanism includes a database of allocated IP destination addresses and MAC addresses. The filter mechanism blocks any packet directed to a subscriber but containing an incorrect IP or MAC address. The mechanism prevents users from changing their address information to illegally appropriate packets from other users or to disguise their identity.

  • Patent number: 8964752
Abstract: A method implemented in a Software Defined Networking (SDN) network for flow table lookup parallelization is disclosed. The SDN network contains at least a SDN controller and at least a forwarding element and the SDN network utilizes a plurality of flow tables to perform lookup for forwarding traffic. The method starts with determining dependency of flow tables within the forwarding element using a set of dependency determination rules. A dependency graph is then constructed based on determined dependency of flow tables. A dependency degree count for each flow table within the forwarding element is determined based on the dependency graph. Based on the dependency degree count determination for each flow table, a plurality of parallel lookup groups (PLGs) for the forwarding element is formed, where each parallel lookup group contains one or more flow tables having a same dependency degree count.

  • Patent number: 8964961
Abstract: A method of routing a session from a calling party in a serving communication network of the calling party to a called party is described. The serving communication network of the calling party is distinct from a home communication network of the calling party. The method is executed by a session routing node in the serving communication network of the calling party. In order to optimize a session routing path of signaling data of the session, the method comprises receiving from the home communication network of the calling party a session routing request requesting routing the signaling data of the session to the called party via the serving communication network of the calling party, and routing the signaling data of the session to the called party via the serving communication network of the calling party based on the received session routing request.

  • Patent number: 8965357
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method in a radio base station for enabling a user equipment to establish a connection in a radio communications network The user equipment is served in a first cell controlled by the radio base station. The radio base station is comprised in the radio communications network. The radio base station detects a failure of a radio link between the user equipment and the radio base station. The radio base station then forwards a user equipment context of the user equipment to a circuitry controlling a second cell when the failure is detected. The user equipment context enables the circuitry controlling the second cell to serve the user equipment and thereby enables the user equipment to establish the connection in the radio communications network.

  • Patent number: 8964639
Abstract: A device (110) receives a radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) (740) or service data unit (SDU) (760) to be segmented, defines a padding threshold (840) for a segmentation mechanism, and determines a padding ratio (850) after enhanced dedicated channel transport format combination (ETFC) selection (730). The device selects a first transport block (960) and a second transport block (970) associated with the RLC PDU/SDU (740/760) when the padding ratio (850) is greater than or equal to the padding threshold (840), and generates a modified segmentation of the RLC PDU/SDU (740/760) based on the first and second transport blocks (960/970) when a padding ratio (RTB) associated with the first and second transport blocks (960/970) is less than the padding threshold (840) and a size ratio (STB) associated with the first and second transport blocks (960/970) is within a size threshold (980).

  • Patent number: 8964655
Abstract: To reduce and/or guarantee the round-trip delay of interactive processes, cooperative scheduling in forward and backward direction is proposed. In practice, a basic idea is to estimate the delay of packets of different users during network-based scheduling of packets in forward direction. During scheduling of packets in backward direction, packets of those users having larger delay in forward direction are given higher priority based on the estimated delay. In this way the total round-trip delay can be reduced and/or even guaranteed. This means that more users will be satisfied and experience faster connections to services.

  • Patent number: 8964758
Abstract: A network element is configured to reduce the synchronization costs for implementing Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Nonstop routing (NSR). The reduced synchronization costs are achieved by reducing the number of acknowledgement messages that are needed to be sent though reliable inter-process communication (IPC) between the active OSPF instance and the standby OSPF instance. The number of acknowledgement messages is reduced by tracking the link state advertisements (LSAs) that have been sent by the active OSPF instance to the standby OSPF instance and by the standby OSPF replying with an acknowledgement of only the last LSA in a group of LSAs received from the active OSPF instance, where the group can have a variety of boundaries such as a group of LSAs in an IPC message. This avoids having a significant number of acknowledgement messages sent through the IPC.

  • Patent number: 8965969
Abstract: A method and apparatus each facilitate communication between users of a SIP-based network and SIP users external to that network. Each user of the SIP-based network possesses a SIP URI comprising a host name part belonging to the network and a user name part. The external users have access to a peer-to-peer network to resolve SIP URIs into contact IP addresses. The method comprises publishing into said peer-to-peer network a mapping between an identifier of a gateway to said SIP-based network and an IP address of the gateway. The identifier corresponds to or is derivable from said host name part. Upon receipt of a query at the gateway in respect of a URI associated with one of said users of said SIP-based network, the URI is resolved into a contact IP address. The contact IP address is returned to a node from which the query originated.
