  • Patent number: 9369883
Abstract: A system for providing communication services between geographically disbursed source and destination terminals includes at least one airborne or spaceborne wireless communication device, such as a satellite. The wireless communication device is configured to store and forward large data files of at least an aggregated 10 gigabytes. The wireless communication device includes a wireless transceiver for communicating with the source and destination terminals over at least one high bandwidth channel. A mass data storage device stores the large data files for a predetermined period of time that is greater than approximately two minutes. At least one processor is coupled among the mass data storage and wireless transceiver. The processor is configured to control receipt of a large data file from the source terminal and to transmit it to the destination terminal as the wireless communication device nears the destination terminal.

  • Patent number: 8515576
Abstract: The present invention was developed by a neurosurgeon and seeks to mimic the results of primate neurological research which is indicative of a human's actual neurological control structures and logic. Specifically, the motor proprioceptive and tactile neurophysiology functioning of the surgeon's hands and internal hand control system from the muscular level through the intrafusal fiber system of the neural network is considered in creating the robot and method of operation of the present invention. Therefore, the surgery is not slowed down as in the art, because the surgeon is in conscious and subconscious natural agreement and harmonization with the robotically actuated surgical instruments based on neurological mimicking of the surgeon's behavior with the functioning of the robot. Therefore, the robot can enhance the surgeon's humanly limited senses while not introducing disruptive variables to the surgeon's naturally occurring operation of his neurophysiology.

  • Patent number: 7889129
Abstract: A system for a satellite includes a core system and multiple nodes for generating an active phased array. Each node includes a transceiver for wirelessly receiving a transmit signal from the core system, for wirelessly transmitting the transmit signals to a target, for wirelessly receiving the receive signals from the target, and for wirelessly transmitting the receive signal back to the core system. The system also includes a subsystem for inhibiting signal interference between the transmit and receive signals. Each of the nodes may also include local power generation circuitry.

  • Patent number: 5684727
Abstract: A high-speed correlator includes a serial-to-parallel convertor, and a pattern detector. The serial-to-parallel converter converts from ECL to TTL logic. The pattern detector includes a fast latch data pipe, high-speed RAMs and a fast adder. The data pipe applies the received data to the high-speed RAMs as address bits. Depending upon position and errors in the synchronization pattern various locations in the RAM are addressed. By preloading the RAM with appropriate data for a given synchronization pattern, position and error information is read from the addressed location and applied to correlate the data and determine the error content.

  • Patent number: 5083851
Abstract: A stereoscopic full resolution image is displayed on a monitor which is perceived to be substantially flicker free. A left and right eye image of the object are digitally represented. The digitized images are divided into a plurality of horizontal raster lines comprised of a plurality of pixels. The odd and even lines of each image are separated and the result stored in four different locations. The four locations are repeatedly scanned at a 30 Hz rate and the monitor's display is refreshed four times for each scan. The sequential scanning alternates between left and right eye images and odd and even lines which are interleaved on the monitor viewing surface.

  • Patent number: 4826206
Abstract: A tension actuator suspension system is disclosed, providing control over the elevation of a load suspended from a reference system, as well as over the compliance of the suspension system. As employed in a vehicle suspension system, a preferred arrangement employs radially expansible, axially contractible tension actuators exhibiting tensile forces that decrease nonlinearly as each contracts. An antagonistic actuator pair is arranged in opposition between the chassis and each wheel of the vehicle. Air is supplied to the actuators from a compressor and accumulator by lines under the control of pressure regulator valves. Manual or automatic inputs allow the adjustment of both vehicle chassis elevation and suspension system compliance individually with respect to each wheel.

  • Patent number: 4456338
Abstract: An electronically tuneable light source which includes a source of white light, an acousto-optic modulator which includes a transparent medium and a means for generating an acoustical wave in the medium and a means for directing the collimated beam of the white light onto the medium at a preselected angle .theta./2, to a line which is perpendicular to the direction of travel of the acoustical wave. Interaction of the light beam with the acoustical wave causes diffraction of the light beam. Means are provided for selecting a visible band of the diffracted beam at an angle to the incident collimated beam of light equal to approximately .theta..
