Abstract: A nail driver for driving nails into a receiving surface comprises a housing with a release member movable upwardly and downwardly in the housing having a lower end which is engageable with the receiving surface. A nail guide channel is defined in the housing and it is arranged in association with a magazine for feeding nails into the channel in succession. A nail driver bar is movable upwardly and downwardly in the channel over the nail. A compression spring is engaged between the lower end of the release member and the nail driver so that when the release member is pressed against a surface, it may move upwardly against the force of the compression spring. The control mechanism is actuated by displacement of the release member to effect driving of a windup drum for a drive tape which is wound around the drum and connected at its free end to the upper end of the nail driver.
