  • Patent number: 9296480
Abstract: In a craft such as an aircraft, a lavatory unit may be powered by the various outputs of a fuel cell system, including by-products that typically become waste. For example, but not limited to, a combination of the water, oxygen-depleted air, thermal energy and/or electrical energy generated by the fuel cell system may be used to supply water to the faucet and the toilet of the lavatory unit, to supply the lavatory unit with its electrical needs, and to heat and/or disinfect and/or dry the lavatory unit and its surfaces.

  • Patent number: 9260323
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a water treatment device that can treat water at its point of use. For example, the water treatment device may be positioned at or near a faucet outlet, so that water can be treated immediately before it leaves the faucet. The water treatment device may be a water treatment reactor with a plurality of UV LEDs positioned between a shield and a heat sink component.

  • Patent number: 8991947
Abstract: Embodiments provided relate to systems and methods for using aircraft lavatories as storage when the aircraft is on the ground and during taxi, take-off, and landing, but to also allow the lavatories to be open for use during other aircraft flight times. This is accomplished by providing a slidable unit that is contained within the interior space of the aircraft lavatory in a storage position and that is extended out of the aircraft lavatory space in a lavatory use position.

  • Publication number: 20140345695
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to a flow control unit for controlling liquid flow in a vacuum waste system. In one embodiment, the flow control unit provides a series of valves that direct liquid flow. The unit may also have an intermediate transfer tube that holds a portion of the liquid to be directed, prior to delivery of the liquid to left and right transfer tubes. In one embodiment, the unit may be installed on board a passenger transport vehicle. A particularly beneficial use of the flow control unit is on a private aircraft for use as a shower control unit.

  • Patent number: 8875983
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide boxes that are particularly useful in connection with trash collection and trash compaction. The boxes are designed as having a single-piece board construction with a strength that can contain mixed types of trash, including solids and liquids, and to effectively contain the trash during the pressure of a compaction process without tearing, splitting and/or leaking. They are also designed to use a waterproof coating for adhering seams, reducing the extra step and expense of using a glue or an adhesive to secure the box seams. The trash compaction boxes provided herein are particularly useful on aircraft and other passenger transport vehicles, where weight and performance are of primary concern.
