Patent number: 8490561Abstract: Apparatus and methods for attaching a safety device to the hull of a boat. In one embodiment, the safety device is a net that is held tightly in tension against the hull. The net is attached to the boat while it is in the water, and if the weather or sea state is threatening. If the boat capsizes, there will be sufficient tightness of the net against the hull such that the arms of an unconscious person can be placed through the netting, and the person will be kept safely above the water line. In yet other embodiments, a sheathing is attached to the hull that is a substantially continuous cover. The cover is attached to the boat prior to beaching the boat and protects the hull against abrasion by sharp objects.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2010Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: Magarl, LLCInventor: Robert B. Publication number: 20120138157Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing fluid such as water at a controlled temperature. In some embodiments, hot and cold fluid is provided to a thermostatically controlled mixing valve, which then provides fluid at a mixed temperature to a plumbing system. The thermostat provides a first loop for closed-loop control of fluid exit temperature, and preferably there is a second, electronically controlled closed loop for adjusting the temperature of fluid exiting the valve. In yet other embodiments the electronic control loop is fail-fixed, such that a loss of electrical communication to the actuator results in the actuator maintaining its last position. In yet other embodiments there is a system including a flow sensor and a recirculation pump such that the temperature of the fluid exiting the valve cannot be adjusted if there is insufficient flow, or if the pump is actuated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2011Publication date: June 7, 2012Applicant: MAGARL, LLCInventors: Robert B. Patent number: 7175100Abstract: A fail-safe proportional mixing valve is provided that tempers a hot fluid supply by proportional flow from a hot fluid inlet and a cold fluid inlet. The valve includes a fail-safe mechanism disposed within the body of the valve to isolate flow from the hot fluid inlet in the event the temperature of the mixed fluid exceeds a predetermined set point. The valve also includes a check valve in the fluid inlets to prevent backflow in case of failure of a fluid supply. Patent number: 7140394Abstract: A thermostatic control valve assembly for use in continuously mixing a hot first fluid with a cold second fluid to continuously produce a mixed fluid at a constant temperature. The valve assembly includes an improved mixing dome defining a mixing chamber that facilitates thorough mixing of the hot and cold fluids over a wide range of flow rates, including rates as low as two gallons per minute. The improved mixing performance is accomplished by a plurality of baffles sequentially disposed along the flow path within the mixing chamber and extending at an angle in opposition to the flow path. Each baffle exhibits a paisley shape and is angularly displaced from the adjacent baffles to turn the fluid flow, thereby optimally mixing the hot and cold fluids over a wide range of flow rates while minimizing the pressure drop between the valve inlet and outlet.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2003Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Magarl, LLCInventor: Robert B Eveleigh

Patent number: RE44273Abstract: A thermostatic control valve assembly for use in continuously mixing a hot first fluid with a cold second fluid to continuously produce a mixed fluid at a constant temperature. The valve assembly includes an improved baffled mixing dome defining a mixing chamber that facilitates thorough mixing of the hot and cold fluids over a wide range of flow rates. Also included is an improved multiple response thermostat having a fast response rate adjacent to the entrance of the mixing dome for responding quickly to the temperature of fluid entering the mixing dome. The valve assembly further includes a piston/cylinder configuration which covers and uncovers internal passageways to control the mixed fluid temperature. The internal passageways are shaped to cause a non-linear change in the mixed fluid temperature in the mixing dome as the piston moves in the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2011Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Magarl, LLCInventor: Kevin B.
