  • Patent number: 4910790
Abstract: A two-speed permanent magnet D.C. electric motor has a housing, permanent magnets carried by the housing, and an armature assembly installed in the housing. The armature assembly has a shaft rotatably mounted in the housing, first coil windings, a first commutator connected to the first coil windings, second coil windings and second commutator connected to the second coil windings. A first set of brushes is carried by the housing and engages the first commutator for applying a D.C. voltage to the first coil windings to cause rotation of the armature assembly at a first speed. A second set of brushes is carried by the housing and engages the second commutator for applying the same D.C. voltage to at least the second coil windings to cause rotation of the armature assembly at a second speed.

  • Patent number: 4888866
Abstract: An electrical flux conducting rotor having an axis of rotation. The rotor is formed with a stack of sheet metal blanks laminated together with the blanks extending perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The blanks have similar outline shapes disposed in alignment in the stack. The outline shape of each blank has a symmetry such that any blank in the stack is capable of being stacked in outline alignment with any other blank when displaced in such stacked relation angularly about the axis of rotation of said rotor a plurality of equal angular divisions of 360.degree.. Each blank has a predetermined orientation based upon being similarly blanked from the same metal sheet. The blanks of the stack are arranged preferably in one group which contains four successive blank sections. Each blank section contains a number of blanks equal to the number of blanks in each blank section. The blanks of the outer two blank sections are displaced angularly 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 4869816
Abstract: A transmission fluid filter assembly in which the marginal peripheries of two sheet metal housing members are crimped into a plied peripheral structure which includes therein the abutting edge portions of a folded filter media sheet member along three of the four sides thereof. The plied peripheral structure is formed by bending a first marginal free edge portion of a first sheet metal member over a second marginal free edge portion of the second sheet metal member in compressing relation with respect to the abutting edge portions of the filter media sheet member. Therafter, the plied peripheral structure is angularly bent intermediate the bent-over outer edge and the free edge of the first marginal edge portion in a direction to form an included angle of 90.degree. between the exterior surface of an outer section and the exterior surface of an inner section of the first marginal edge portion.

  • Patent number: 4824422
Abstract: A pulley having an axially extending annular belt engaging wall construction including an axial wall portion formed of sheet metal. The sheet metal also forms a circular wall portion integral at one end with the axial wall portion and extending radially inwardly and axially inwardly with respect to the one end of the axial wall portion. The circular wall portion has an annular bend in an intermediate annular area thereof and extends therefrom generally radially inwardly to a hub construction. The entire hub construction is formed integrally from the sheet metal into a cylindrical wall structure extending axially outwardly from the circular wall portion. The cylindrical wall structure has an axial extent greater than the diameter of a shaft engaging interior cylindrical surface thereof.

The hub construction is formed of first and second axial parts. The first part is formed integrally from the sheet metal into a cylindrical wall structure extending axially inwardly from the circular wall portion. The second part is made of sheet metal to include a cylindrical wall portion having an annular flange extending therefrom rigidly fixed to the circular wall portion. The cylindrical wall structure and cylindrical wall portion include aligned interior cylindrical shaft engaging surfaces.
