Patents Assigned to Magnum Piering, Inc.
  • Patent number: 10947688
Abstract: Provided is a helical pile having an elongated shaft, at least one helical blade on the shaft having a leading edge and a trailing edge, and a displacement paddle extending outward from the shaft longitudinally positioned between the leading and trailing edges of the blade to push away soil to create a grout channel surrounding the shaft. At least one grout propeller may be provided on the shaft, having at least one blade pitched an opposite direction from the helical blade to propel grout downward in the grout channel as the pile rotates.

  • Patent number: 9365998
Abstract: An elevated equipment assembly includes operating equipment situated atop a platform above grade. Piles are installed into the ground with free ends thereof extending above grade, and pile caps are coupled to the free ends of the piles. Each pile cap includes a cap plate disposed in a generally horizontal orientation. A platform is situated atop the pile caps and includes two longitudinally-extending structural beams and cross beams spanning between the two structural beams. Attachment members are secured to and extend outwardly from the outboard side of each structural beam. Each attachment member includes a generally flat attachment plate disposed in a generally horizontal orientation and secured to a cap plate of a pile cap.

  • Patent number: 9249593
Abstract: A building structure is supported above a foundation and above grade by a moment frame comprising a plurality of columns and beams. The columns are all generally similar and the beams are all generally similar, such that each column can be attached with up to four beams. The moment frame is secured to a foundation, which may include pilings extending downwardly into the ground. The foundation can include a concrete foundation member or a foundation framework comprising a plurality of attachment members secured together by beams. The pilings can include helical flighting.

  • Patent number: 9057169
Abstract: A sacrificial tip and method of installing a friction pile within the ground includes a connective plate to attach to a friction pile, a smaller diameter pipe extending from the plate, and a plurality of gussets and a helical flight secured to the pipe. The pipe projects generally perpendicularly from the connective plate toward a penetrative aspect and the plurality of gussets are secured to and project radially outwardly from the pipe, and extend longitudinally along the pipe tapering radially inwardly from the connective plate toward the penetrative aspect. The helical flight is secured about the pipe and spirals longitudinally toward the penetrative aspect. The connective plate can be secured to the friction pile with the pipe projecting coaxially with the friction pile to define the sacrificial tip for the friction pile.

  • Patent number: 4711603
Abstract: A concrete slab which has settled is stabilized and may even be lifted by forcing a pier through the slab and into the underlying soil and then attaching the pier at its upper end to the slab. To this end a vertical hole is drilled through the slab as is a smaller oblique hole, with the latter intersecting and passing through the former. Then a jacking unit is attached to the upper surface of the slab around the vertical hole. The jacking unit forces a succession pier sections through the vertical hole and into the underlying soil, with these sections being fitted together end-to-end to form a pier. In time significant resistance is encountered, and at this point, while the jacking unit exerts a downwardly directed force on the pier and an upwardly directed counterforce on the slab, a hole is drilled through the portion of the pier that is within the slab, this being done by using the oblique hole in the slab as a guide for the drill bit.

  • Patent number: 4708528
Abstract: A foundation is stabilized with a pier that extends downwardly from the foundation into the underlying surface material and at its lower end preferably bears against bedrock. At its upper end the pier is attached to the foundation through a bracket having a sleeve and a rod directed generally radially from the sleeve. To drive the pier, a hole is first drilled into the foundation wall, and the rod of the bracket is inserted into the hole, so that the sleeve lies along the wall. A jacking apparatus is fitted to the bracket, and it includes a lift member that actually engages the sleeve and a hydraulic cylinder that is located above the lift member and sleeve. The pier comprises sections which are fitted individually into the sleeve and are driven downwardly with the cylinder, with all but the first section being coupled to the section immediately below it.
