    Abstract: A passive battery cooling system for removing heat generated during battery charging and discharging and a method for production of such a system are disclosed. The passive system transfers heat from the internal heat-generating portions of the battery cell using a heat pipe which is incorporated inside a cylindrical or flat battery cell to reduce peak cell temperatures and improve temperature uniformity within the cell.
