Abstract: Network information may be discoverable without requiring a connection to that network. For example, Access Network Query Protocol (“ANQP”) may allow a device to discover information about a network prior to the device associating with that network. In other words, ANQP allows a network terminal to request additional network information prior to establishing network capability. The additional network information that may be discoverable includes network latency, cellular capabilities, hotspot capabilities, mobility capabilities, neighbor reports, station identification, and multiple hotspot session identification.

Abstract: Described herein is a system and method in a user equipment (UE) supporting registration using third generation partnership project (3GPP) access and using non-3GPP access, the method comprising storing, in a memory of the UE, first emergency information received using first registration procedures; receiving, by the UE, a REGISTRATION ACCEPT message using second registration procedures via non-3GPP access; and keeping, in the memory, the first emergency information after receiving the REGISTRATION ACCEPT message.

Abstract: A method in a first wireless communication device for displaying current location information representing a current location of a second wireless communication device. The method entails, from within a communication application executing on a processor of the first wireless communication device, receiving the current location information representing the current location of the second wireless communication device, performing a reverse look-up of the received current location of the second wireless communication device to determine address information, displaying a map from within the communication application, and identifying the received current location information on the displayed map with a name associated with the determined address information.

Abstract: A radio access network sends, to a mobile device, information indicating a cell on a first carrier of a first type and a cell on a second carrier of a second type, and sends, to the mobile device, configuration information regarding whether the mobile device is to connect with a cell on another carrier of a new carrier type. The radio access network sends, to the mobile device, information relating to a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) configuration that is specific to a type of carrier.

Abstract: A method of establishing a secure communication channel between a first communication device and a second communication device. The secure communication channel is defined by one or more algorithm options and the one or more algorithm options are associated with one of one or more option categories. The method includes receiving a signal representing one or more selections. The method further includes, for the respective option categories, generating a sorted list of algorithm options based on the received selections and generating a security association proposal including one or more of the algorithm options from the respective sorted lists of algorithm options. The security association proposal is generated based on an order in the sorted list of algorithm options. The method further includes transmitting the security association proposal to the second communication device for establishing the secure communication channel.

Utilizing an advertisement protocol to transmit service query messages, a mobile device may receive service query responses from a network that identify the services available prior to establishing network capability. In other words, the messaging is prior to the exchange of any authentication parameters between the device and the network as well prior to the establishment of a recognized session between the device and the network.
