  • Patent number: 5826335
Abstract: A process for repairing heat exchanger tubes by partial tube replacement in the inside of closed tube apparatus with at least one cylindrical tube bottom from the tube side, wherein dents observed are first straightened, and a damaged partial tube section is separated and removed. A new partial tube section is then pushed in through a hole in the tube bottom. The joining of the new partial tube to the heat exchanger tube remaining inside the heat exchanger is performed by inner tube welding by means of an inner tube welding device, which is fastened to a bracket and a drive and is introduced through the new partial tube. Tests are performed after the welding together of the partial tube and the heat exchanger tube to demonstrate the quality.

  • Patent number: 5806299
Abstract: A process and a device for quickly switching over from the premixing operation to the diffusion operation in combustion chambers of a gas turbine upon the extinction of the premixing flame or upon the occurrence of a disturbance that may lead to the extinction of the premixing flame. A pilot gas line, into which a pilot gas control valve is inserted, branches off from the fuel gas supply line before the fuel gas valve. The fuel gas supply line branches into fuel supply lines for both combustion chambers after the fuel gas control valve with displacement measurement. The fuel supply to the diffusion gas line and to the premixing gas line is controlled by installing a quick switch-over valve each with servo valves in the branching fuel supply lines. The combustion chambers are monitored in the area of the flame tube by pressure-measuring devices and by an optical flame-monitoring device.

  • Patent number: 5808395
Abstract: The present invention concerns a motor for generating torques around more than one axis with respect to an object that can be rotated and revolved around only one point. Only one mechanism is necessary to maintain a prescribed position or to produce changes in position around one or more axes (X, Y, or Z).The permanent-magnet excited synchronous machine comprises stator shells (10 & 10.1), multiple-phase windings (11 & 11.1), and a rotor (12) with permanent magnets (13 & 13.1), whereby the annular and spherical surfaces (14) of the rotor are more extensive than the annular and spherical surfaces (15) of the shells. All the spherical surfaces share the same center (M) of curvature, which simultaneously constitutes the origin of the coordinate systems, and the center of rotation. The shaft (17) is supported only at the center of curvature and such as to ensure freedom of motion throughout the reference coordinate system (21).

  • Patent number: 5802098
Abstract: A melting vessel plant, in which the melting vessel is a converter vessel, to which a vessel cover with a pipe connection for removing the flue gases is attached. Either an oxygen lance with an auxiliary cover or electrodes with an auxiliary cover are introduced into the melting vessel through the vessel cover. The spherical melting vessel is lined with a lining. It is arranged on running rails as a traveling melting vessel, and it is mounted on an inner running rim and an outer running rim. The melting vessel is fastened to the inner running rim by support elements arranged on the circumference. Both running rims are interlocked by shear wedges. With the melting vessel locked, a cable winch with traction cables makes possible the tilting movements of the melting vessel both in the direction of steel tapping on the running rails and back into the upright position.

  • Patent number: 5794688
Abstract: A heat insulation and corrosion protection of the inner vessel wall of a heat exchanger in a synthesis gas cooler. The heat insulation and corrosion protection are arranged above a thermal seal fastened between the vessel wall and the cooling tubes. The insulation and protection includes segments of fiber-filled plates, which are fastened to the vessel wall by means of a substructure and an adhesive or foam material. Support rings with a heat insulation protection means absorb the vertical forces. A metallic corrosion protection layer is applied to the inner vessel wall under the thermal seal. Free breathing of the vessel wall is possible and pressure equalization between the gas space and the annular space is guaranteed due to the heat insulation and corrosion protection according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5765991
Abstract: A process and a device for avoiding regulator instabilities in surge limit regulators for protecting a turbocompressor from surging if a high proportional gain is selected for the surge limit regulator by a blow-off via a blow-off valve. The control of the velocity of closing of the blow-off valve over time is performed by a gradient limiter of asymmetric design, wherein no velocity limitation acts in the opening direction, but a freely parameterizable velocity limitation of the closing process of the blow-off valve is provided in the closing direction. The gradient limiter is inserted between the surge limit regulator, which receives the control signals on the actual value of flow and the desired value of flow from a subtracter, and the control line for a pneumatic or hydraulic operating device of the blow-off valve.

  • Patent number: 5762468
Abstract: A process and to a device for protecting a turbocompressor from operating in the unstable working range by means of a blow-off device, wherein a control parameter is determined from measured values for the compressor flow, the compressor final pressure and the temperature measurement, as well as from preset or presettable desired values, and controlled opening of the blow-off fittings is performed by a pump surge limiter by means of a pneumatic actuating device each on the basis of the said control parameter. The measured values for the temperature, flow and pressure entered into the pump surge limiter are coupled with a dynamic blow-off line. The blow-off fittings are operated in sequence, and the control signals for the quick opening of the blow-off fittings are first sent to a small blow-off fitting, and then to a large blow-off fitting after the opening of the small blow-off fitting. In cooperation with the dynamic blow-off line, the pump surge limiter provides for continuous control, i.e.

  • Patent number: 5632370
Abstract: A pivoting transfer means for a jet of bulk material between a first cover belt conveyor and a second cover belt conveyor. The bulk material leaves the cover belt conveyor in the area of the tail pulleys and enters the receiving mouth of a second cover belt conveyor as a free jet of bulk material. Both cover belt conveyors are arranged pivotably in relation to one another around a pivot axis. The receiving mouth of the cover belt conveyor is limited by the bottom belt, the cover belt and the side walls. The jet of bulk material is deflected from the vertical into the horizontal direction of delivery within the receiving mouth. The first belt conveyor may be arranged at a higher level with the second cover belt conveyor arranged thereunder. However, the second cover belt conveyor may also be arranged at a higher level with the first cover belt conveyor arranged thereunder wherein the transfer is still from the first cover belt conveyor to the second cover belt conveyor.
