Patents Assigned to Man Miller Druckmaschinen GmbH
  • Patent number: 5320040
Abstract: A rotary sheet-printing press includes a register bar; a plurality of front lay marks mounted on the register bar in a series extending perpendicularly to a sheet-feeding direction; a plurality of setting motors, each connected to a separate front lay mark for shifting each front lay mark parallel to the sheet-feeding direction; a control panel; manually operable controls mounted on the control panel in a field of vision of the front lay marks and connected to the setting motors for energizing the setting motors of a desired number of arbitrarily selected front lay marks and for adjusting the selected front lay marks parallel to the sheet-feeding direction; and a visual indicator mounted on the control panel and operatively connected to the front lay marks for displaying actual positions thereof.

  • Patent number: 5259312
Abstract: The accurately positioned tensioning of a printing plate on the printing cylinder of a printing mechanism. The circumference of the printing cylinder has a groove extending in the axial direction of the cylinder which accommodates a tensioning and fastening mechanism for the printing plate. The mechanism includes a front tensioning bar for the start of printing of the printing plate and a rear tensioning bar for the end of printing of the printing plate, the rear tensioning bar being disposed ahead of the front tensioning bar in the direction of rotation of the printing cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5228389
Abstract: An oscillating form roller in the inking mechanism of a printing press includes a roller casing which is rotatable and axially displaceable relative to a roller shaft. During its axial displacement the roller casing encounters set collars that are fastened to the roller shaft so as to be continuously adjustable. Friction surfaces are provided so that, in this contacting position, the set collars and the roller shaft are caused to rotate in synchronism with the roller casing.

  • Patent number: 5199757
Abstract: A gripper finger for a gripper spindle in a sheet-fed printing press includes first and second components. The first component has a gripper finger extension which contacts a gripper finger support at a transfer point. The first and second components cooperate to form an enclosure angle for enclosing the gripper spindle, with the first component contributing a maximum of 180 degrees to the enclosure angle and the second component supplementing the enclosure angle. The second component is fastened to the gripper spindle. A first compression spring is disposed between the ends of the first and second for exerting an adjustable, first spring force approximately in a direction of the transfer point. An adjustment screw is threadably engaged with one of the components and has a tip which lies against the supporting plane of the other component for exerting a screw force approximately in a direction of the transfer point.

  • Patent number: 5167188
Abstract: A portable ink fountain insert for an ink fountain of a printing press includes a body defining a volume for receiving ink, with a discharge gap being defined at the lower front end of the body. A pull is cable guided in a recess in the front wall. A gap control device is connected to the body and to the pull cable for selectively opening and closing the ink discharge gap in response to displacement of the pull cable. An actuating element engages the pull cable for controlling displacement of the pull cable and thus the opening and closing of the discharge gap.

  • Patent number: 5154120
Abstract: A plate cylinder wherein at least two thin sheets are disposed between the plate cylinder and its printing plate. These thin sheets each have surfaces with different coefficients of sliding friction. The smoother sides of the thin sheets lie on top of one another and the rougher sides lie against the surface of the cylinder and the underside of the printing plate, respectively. Thus the friction between the cylinder and the printing plate is reduced considerably, thereby facilitating retightening of the printing plate on the plate cylinder as well as aligning the printing plate to come into register.

  • Patent number: 5127323
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the tension of a web material passing through a web-fed printing press includes two parallel shafts, at least one of which can be rotatably driven, and four rings, with two of such rings being spaced apart and fixed to the ends of each shaft. The casings of the two rings fastened to one of the upper and lower shafts is made of an elastically resilient material and includes slots. Each ring having a slotted casing further includes spreading elements disposed beneath the slotted casing for adjusting the diameter of the slotted casing, thereby partially controlling the tension of the web material passing through the gaps.

  • Patent number: 5097763
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for a printing press, with means being provided in the press for correcting any out-of-register position of a printing plate, so as to release, after the printing plate has been clamped onto the plate cylinder, initially the tension of a rear tensioning strip, whereupon a forward tensioning strip is canted by a desired degree. Then, rear stops are moved back and the rear tensioning strip is tensioned by way of spring force. The described steps are repeated if required. Means are also proposed to noticeably reduce the sliding friction between the plate cylinder and the printing plate.
