  • Patent number: 7607389
Abstract: A printing unit having a press unit is disclosed. Damping solution is applied to a form cylinder by way of direct damping-solution supply via a damping unit in such a way that a damping-solution applicator roll which is set away from an ink distributor roll and is driven by way of friction by the form cylinder rolls only on the form cylinder and thus applies the damping solution to the form cylinder only directly via the damping-solution applicator roll. In the event of indirect damping-solution supply in which the damping-solution applicator roll rolls exclusively on the ink distributor roll and is driven by way of friction by the ink distributor roll, in order to switch over to direct damping-solution supply, the damping-solution applicator roll is set away from the ink distributor roll more quickly than the damping unit, and thus the damping-solution applicator roll, is set against the form cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7563218
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling or regulating a folder of a printing press is disclosed. Setpoint fold values are generated on the basis of prepress stage data and printed copies are measured in the folded and/or partially folded state in order to determine actual fold values. The actual fold values which are determined in the process are compared with the corresponding setpoint fold values and, as a function of this comparison, the folder is set automatically in such a way that the actual fold values correspond to or are approximated to the setpoint fold values in subsequent printed copies.

  • Publication number: 20090126586
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for gravure painting using an enable and re-usable printing form. The starting point of said method is a gravure printing form comprising a basic grid that is designed for the maximum quality of ink that is transferred, said grid being uniformly filled in a filling process, a pattern being created by thermal ablation and the gravure printing form being erased after the printing process. The aim of the invention is to provide a method and device with which the complete removal of the filler material can be performed in a justifiable time in a reliable manner, even outside the printing press. To achieve this, the filler material and the residual ink is removed by a separate laser beam from that of the image-point transfer device.

  • Publication number: 20090126587
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to further improve the ablation precision in terms of structuring the depressions of the basic grid of a gravure printing form and the printing behaviour of the depressions of a basic grid of an erasable and re-usable gravure printing form, by increasing the uniformity of the base of said depressions. To achieve this, the filler material that fills the erasable, re-usable printing gravure form is removed using laser beams, whose intensity profile over the cross-section of the laser beam corresponds to a pillbox profile.

  • Publication number: 20090126590
Abstract: A method and device for producing a permanent as well as erasable image on a printing plate, in particular within a printing press, is disclosed. A printing plate with a rewritable and erasable surface is made available. The surface of the printing plate made available is erased and a permanent and erasable image is created on the erased surface. Following the erasing of the surface, the surface is imaged, gummed and fixed, namely in such a way that, on the one hand, the imaging and the gumming and the fixing occur relative to the erasing in a chronologically sequential and spatially sequential manner, and that, on the other hand, the imaging and the gumming and the fixing each occur relative to one another in a chronologically parallel but spatially sequential manner.
