  • Patent number: 12174314
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating non-semantic reference data for determining the position of a motor vehicle involves a set of raw data points being provided that models a stipulated surrounding area. A stipulated descriptor characterizing a property of the surrounding area is determined for each of the raw data points. At least one point cluster is generated by grouping the raw data points on the basis of their descriptors. A characteristic number relating to an information gain for determining the position of the motor vehicle is assigned to a first point cluster on the basis of the descriptors of the raw data points. The characteristic number is taken as a basis for storing feature information of the first point cluster on a memory unit as non-semantic reference data for determining the position.

  • Patent number: 11885256
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine including feeding a pilot quantity of gas fuel, into a prechamber before a piston reaches a top dead center position. The method comprises autoignition of the pilot quantity of gas fuel in the prechamber, feeding a main quantity of gas fuel into the prechamber after the autoignition, and ignition of the main quantity of gas fuel by the conditions in the prechamber that are brought about by the autoignited pilot quantity. The method makes it possible to operate an internal combustion engine purely with methane or some other gaseous fuel, by means of compression autoignition of the pilot quantity.

  • Patent number: 11835013
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a cylinder head for covering a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The cylinder head comprises at least one material recess for heat isolation, which is formed in a main body of the cylinder head and is arranged between a fluid-guide channel and a cooling channel. The material recess can be produced e.g. directly during the shaping (e.g. casting or pressing) of the cylinder head and/or thereafter. For example, in the event that exhaust gas is guided through the fluid-guide channel, a significantly lower heat input occurs from the hot exhaust gas into the cooling fluid. In addition, the thermal decoupling via the material recess leads to the hot exhaust gas cooling to a lesser degree in the fluid-guide channel.

  • Patent number: 11815050
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (10) for supplying a fuel consumer (1) of a vehicle (20) with a gaseous fuel. The device (10) comprises multiple pressure accumulators(2) for storing and providing pressurised fuel, as well as a discharge device (3), which fluidically connects the multiple pressure accumulators (2) with the fuel consumer (1). In order to advantageously allow for a utilisation of a temperature change occurring during a fuel discharge, preferably a discharge cold temperature released during the discharge of fuel, according to the invention, the discharge device (3) is thermally coupled to a coolant circuit (4) of the vehicle (20). The invention also relates to a vehicle (20) comprising a device (10) of this type.

  • Patent number: 11749118
Abstract: Embodiments relate to vehicles, apparatuses, methods and computer programs for a vehicle, for a platooning vehicle, and for a network component. The apparatus (10) for a vehicle (100) comprises one or more interfaces (12) configured to communicate in a mobile communication system (400), and a control module (14) configured to control the one or more interfaces (12). The control module (14) is further configured to receive one or more messages from one or more vehicles. The one or more messages comprise information on at least a velocity and a location of a vehicle. The control module (14) is configured to detect whether a potential intruder for a platoon of vehicles is present based on the one or more messages from the one or more vehicles and based on a warning message trigger condition. The control module (14) is configured to generate a warning message in case a potential intruder is detected, and to communicate the warning message to one or more other vehicles.

  • Patent number: 11732660
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (IO). The method includes generating a pressure pulse in an exhaust gas system of the internal combustion engine (IO). The method also includes supplying exhaust gas from a combustion chamber of a cylinder during an exhaust outlet stroke of the cylinder into an inlet channel of the cylinder by propagating the pressure pulse from the exhaust gas system into the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The method further includes supplying the exhaust gas from the inlet channel of the cylinder into the combustion chamber of the cylinder during an intake stroke of the cylinder. By means of internal residual gas control (residual exhaust gas control), the method permits the exhaust gas temperature to be raised in at low load without negatively influencing the full load performance of the internal combustion engine (IO).

  • Patent number: 11719186
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a piston for an internal combustion engine. The piston comprises a cover which at least partially covers a piston basehead of the piston. A heat-isolating air gap is formed between the cover and the piston basehead, which is fluidically connected to a combustion chamber and/or an upper side of the cover facing away from the heat-isolating air gap. The fluidic connection permits a fluid exchange to take place between the heat-isolating air gap and the combustion chamber. In this way, a pressure gradient can be reduced between the combustion chamber and the heat-isolating air gap. As a result, the cover is/can be kept thin without being deformed during combustion.

  • Patent number: 11636767
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for the automatic transverse guidance of a following vehicle in a vehicle platoon. The method comprises determining and receiving a plurality of lane data. A lane course is able to be determined on the basis of the plurality of lane data and the following vehicle is able to be transversely guided on the basis of the determined lane course. The method is able to prevent an increase in swaying movements from the front to the rear in the vehicle platoon. In addition, the vehicles of the vehicle platoon are able to remain in the starting lane, even when a vehicle of the vehicle platform driving in front changes lane.
