Abstract: A system and method allowing customization of a user-interface into a data repository are disclosed. Customization options are provided via a hierarchy and/or compartmentalization of structured control files such as Extensible Markup Language (XML) files. The control files may be defined in a hierarchical fashion allowing a particular end-user or group of end-users to customize their interface without impacting other users of the same data and user-interface system. Compartmentalization of functions to specific files may also aid in ease of maintenance of customizations. Customization may include an ability to customize what data is shown on a screen and which capabilities are available on each screen for data interaction pertaining to a particular job responsibility. Capabilities to provide these and other customization options to an end-user are disclosed in a non-limiting embodiment of an import export trade transaction storage and retrieval system.

The authentication token incorporates standard token content, and also includes additional token components that are needed by the local device. The additional token components incorporate user preferences information, initialization data, or other useable information needed by the local device. In contrast to standard processes, which must return a security token to the local device before any useful data can be exchanged, the disclosed embodiment inserts useable data into the returned token and eliminates the time required to obtain this data through a separate data request.

Abstract: A free trade qualification system to determine whether finished products qualify for a given free trade agreement. Bill of materials maintenance uses tables that constitute the bill of materials, including an item master table and an item relationship table. The item master table contains records for the parts and finished products. The item relationship table contains all relationships between items structured as parent to child in a recursive manner. Free trade qualification traverses the bill of materials to calculate whether a given finished product is qualified. The harmonized tariff code for the part or subassembly being processed is evaluated in terms of the appropriate qualification rules to determine which of these rules applies to the part in the context of its relationship to the subassembly being processed.

Abstract: A system and method for distributing processing utilizing message queues as a method of distributing binary objects as “messages” and invoking the embedded logic of the received message to perform a portion of a distributed application is disclosed. More particularly, but not by way of limitation, a system and method for the integrated distribution and execution of objects as they are retrieved or extracted from a message queue on a remote system to provide executable functionality portions of a distributed application. In one embodiment a failed processing step results in the message being retained in the message queue to allow for subsequent retry processing.

Abstract: An integrated import/export system includes a database of records relating to a plurality of shipments of goods, a database server and an application server. The application server communicates with the database server to provide members of a supply chain for a shipment of goods an opportunity to modify records relating to the shipment. As the shipment moves through the supply chain, the records relating to the shipment may be repeatedly updated and accessed by interested parties such as customs brokers and government officials. A central repository for such data minimizes errors from repetitive data entry and provides a more complete source of information relating to the shipment than is typically associated with a shipment at any time in transit.
