Abstract: In a sensor (1), firstly two sections (3, 12) of a steering shaft (4) are connected by means of a torsion rod (10) which bears a measuring cell (9). For the purpose of protection against overloading, the sensor (1) has a rotary angle limiter (7) which is formed by parting lines (5, 6) which run in the manner of a step longitudinally and transversely, in the housing (2), which is initially connected to the sections (3, 12) and the torsion rod (10). By this means, the torsion rod (10) can be rotated to a limited extent with respect to the housing (2) of the sensor (1), the rotary angle difference being determined by the width of the longitudinally extending parting line (5). As a result, the rotary angle limiter (7) is largely independent of dimensional deviations during installation and, even at low rotary angle differences, permits the exact determination of the rotary forces applied.
Abstract: A window and lens glass cleaning system for a motor vehicle has a constructional unit comprising a washer fluid container (1), a plurality of control units (7-9) and an evaluating device (12) of a fluid-level sensor (12a). This enables all of the essential components of the window and lens glass cleaning system to be preassembled and tested outside the motor vehicle. The window and lens glass cleaning system can then be installed in a particularly simple manner in the motor vehicle.
Abstract: In a method for navigational assistance to a vehicle driver who is issued instructions which are derived from a comparison of a route, prescribed by route reference points, and respectively determined positions of the vehicle, the route reference points and connections between the route reference points of at least a portion of the prescribed route are represented diagrammatically.
Abstract: Production-induced tolerances in the assembly of components involve very high outlay if, after the assembly, these components have to be located in a certain position in relation to one another. The novel tolerance-compensation device is intended to render the position of the components adjustable in relation to one another, assembly also being simplified.

Abstract: A control device (1) for a motor vehicle, for an automatic or semi-automatic transmission, is provided on a supporting arm (2). The control device comprises two actuation elements (7, 8), comprising as touch contact switches (5, 6), and a liquid crystal display (3) which, in addition to the shifting position which has been set, also represents all the other possible shifting positions. The control device (1) is located in constant field of vision of the motor vehicle driver and thus makes control easier.
Abstract: A limit-level sensor for measuring level of a liquid has a resistance element which has an electric resistance which suddenly varies a transition temperature which lies above the maximum liquid temperature. The resistance element is first heated by electric current. Thereupon, the electric resistance of the resistance element is measured. When the resistance element is covered with liquid, the heat generated by the electric current is led away so that the temperature of the resistance element is less than its transition temperature. If the resistance element is not covered by liquid, this heat is scarcely led away, so that the temperature of the resistance element remains above the transition temperature.

Abstract: A storage medium (202) carries data structures (220-222) with attribute values (224-232) for a plurality of geographical locations. On the basis of a given code the storage medium is accessed by a system in order to read the attribute values of the data structure (222) corresponding to the given code. The storage medium in accordance with the invention stores a structure description (236) which specifies the layout of the data structure (222) in attribute values. The system consults this structure description and, as a result, knows the layout of the relevant data structure. By storing the structure description on the storage medium different data structures with an individual more suitable layout can be stored. Moreover, a subsequent version of the storage medium can store an adaptation of the data structure layout while it can still be read by the original system.

Abstract: In order to code its light intensity class, a light-emitting diode (1) has a number of contact elements (3-8) which are connected to series resistors (13-16) situated outside a physical unit comprising the contact elements (3-8), a connection element (2) and the light-emitting diode (1). Depending on the code, series resistors (13-16) are combined and thus compensate for the fluctuations in light intensity which are unavoidable in light-emitting diode manufacture. The light-emitting diode (1) is therefore automatically connected to the requisite series resistor (13-16) by connecting the connection element (2).
