Abstract: The use of Manuka Honey in the production of a medicament for treating a virus by applying the honey, via the medicament, to the periphery of tissue on which the virus is present. Further, The use of one or more of methylglyoxal; 3-phenyllactic acid; p-coumaric acid; quercetin; pinocembrin; pinobanksin; hesperidin; galangin; kaempferol; chrysin; and luteolin in the preparation of an antiviral medicament for administering to a patient to treat, or prevent, infection by the virus. Further, a respiratory mask comprising a barrier permeable to air, the barrier having sufficient Manuka Honey for substantially disinfecting a vims in air when breathed in or otherwise passed through the barrier while the mask is worn.
