  • Patent number: 5797306
Abstract: A lamination notching apparatus for forming dynamoelectric core laminations with winding slots includes a sprocket and drive belt system connecting an indexer to the drive table shaft of a lamination table. The indexer is driven from a punch drive and has an output sprocket. A coupling unit has a first sprocket and a second sprocket mounted on a common same shaft and connected by a passive clamp unit to produce a one-to-one rotation. Drive belts connect the indexer sprocket to the first sprocket and the second sprocket to the drive sprocket table shaft. The sprockets are formed with a special tooth profile to eliminate tooth-to-belt clearance and backlash with a standard HTD profile belt for precise rotary motion. The indexer is movably mounted for tension adjustment of the drive belt. The passive clamp unit includes telescoped tapered sprocket hubs on a tubular shaft, with a spring-loaded clamp nut and bolt passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5714821
Abstract: A three phase four pole alternating current generator includes an AC exciter including a series winding for each phase of the main generator windings and a shunt winding for each of the main phase windings. The series exciter windings includes two coils. In a high Y connection of the winding, the two coils are connected in series with each other and with the main phase winding. In the low voltage Y connection, series coils are separated and each is located in a paralleled leg of the same main phase winding. The shunt winding is connected directly across a corresponding main phase winding. An electronic voltage regulator includes phase voltage sensing which is coupled to a reference control circuit to produce a control signal if the voltage varies from a reference voltage. The current to the shunt winding of the exciter is controlled to maintain the desired output voltage.

  • Patent number: 5403982
Abstract: A centrifugal switch assembly for a single phase induction motor connecting a start winding and/or start capacitors in circuit. A centrifugal actuator positions a contact unit on a cantilevered spring arm relative to an aligned fixed contact unit. Each contact unit is identically constructed with a cylindrical steel base and an outer contact button which defines a radial lip. A silicone rubber boot in the form of a tubular member having similar thick end hubs connected by a thin-wall convolution between the hubs to establish a flexible enclosure. The hubs are telescoped respectively over the contact bases with the same interference fit to totally enclose the contact units. The lips of the contact buttons lock the boot to the contact units. The boot length is greater than the spacing of the open contact units and the convolution is continuously deflected to create a closing force.

  • Patent number: 5283490
Abstract: A standard induction motor includes an outer bearing including first and second end brackets joined to the opposite end of a tubular main frame by through bolts. Each of the end brackets is a cup-shaped member with a circular outer wall and a flat outer radial wall. The first end bracket has four spaced air inlet openings in the circular wall with axial cross bars forming elongated air passageways. A separate rodent guard unit is secured to each ventilation opening and includes an outer plate abutting the exterior of the circular wall and having integral clip members engaging edges of the ventilation opening. Each plate has circumferentially elongated openings extending across the cross bars to form small rodent excluding passageways. The second end bracket has a L-shaped ventilation opening in the circular wall and the radial wall.

  • Patent number: 4927988
Abstract: A centrifugal switch assembly for a single phase induction motor connects a start winding in circuit to start the motor. A centrifugal actuator positions a movable contact on the end of a cantilevered spring arm relative to an aligned fixed switch carried by an insulating flat plate secured within the motor. A silicone rubber boot in the form of a tubular member has a first heavy end telescoped over the movable contact with a resilient gripping of the side of the contact. The opposite end of the boot is a heavy end which is freely telescoped over the opposite contact into engagement with the flat plate to totally enclose the contacts, but may also be attached to the contact with a resilient grip. The boot has an intermediate convolution between the two ends. The convolution is formed as a very thin wall to establish a highly flexible but supporting wall member.

  • Patent number: 4500161
Abstract: A connector assembly for providing contact between the conductors of an electric power cable and a plurality of leads. The connector assembly includes a distribution block connected to the leads, and a connector slidably mounted on the block for providing contact between the cable conductors and the block. The connector includes a split collar for receiving and clamping about the cable conductors and a pair of opposing legs projecting outwardly from the free ends thereof. The legs are slidably received within a channel formed along one side of the block for selective positioning thereon. A set screw secures the cable conductors within the connector and simultaneously fixes the location of the connector on the block and assures intimate contact of the connector with the block by spreading the legs of the connector to firmly engage the sides of the channel.
