Patents Assigned to Marathon Equipment Company
  • Patent number: 5178062
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of the present invention is directed to a compactor for compacting waste materials. The compactor includes a compression unit for receiving and compressing waste materials and a power unit detachably connected thereto. The compression unit includes a ram and a pair of piston and cylinder assemblies. The power control unit activates the piston and cylinder assemblies to move the ram between an operating position and a storage position. A support bracket slideably connects the power control unit to the compression unit permitting an individual to readily access the power control unit to service the same. The support bracket extends from the left side wall to the right side wall of the compression unit thereby permitting an individual to attach the power control unit to either the left side or right side of the compression unit.

  • Patent number: 5044271
Abstract: An improved manually fed waste baling compactor has a single interlock switch which controls movement of a vertically oriented ram and platen such that the ram cannot move unless both a chamber door and a guard door of the mechanism are properly positioned. A magnetic interlock prevents opening the guard door manually until after the compression and retraction stroke of the ram.

  • Patent number: 5025721
Abstract: This invention is a lock-in device for a trash compactor assembly including a stationary compacting head and support, and a movable container spaced subjacent the compacting head for containing compacted trash. The lock-in device retains the movable container in fixed relation to the vertical compacting head by the action of first and second interlocking members, wherein when the container is locked in position subjacent the compactor the first member can engage with the second member to prevent the container from moving horizontally relative to the compacting head when compacting is taking place. The lock-in device includes first and second members formed of flat plates bent along their longitudinal length to form angled sections and are jointed to the compaction assembly so that they are engageable to prevent horizontal movement of the container relative to the compactor head.

  • Patent number: 4391188
Abstract: A pin-off and door closure assembly for a stationary refuse compactor which includes a packer unit having a ram for forcing refuse into a portable container through a load opening in the door thereof, the container being removably attached to the packer unit. The pin-off portion of the assembly includes an elongated pipe which, when not in use, is stored in a refuse-free compartment on the face of the ram. The pin-off pipe is transferred to its position of use across the container door load opening by extension of the ram into the container, following which pins are inserted through both sides of the container into the ends of the pipe for securing the latter into position. A hinged flap forming the forward side of the storage compartment permits the pipe to be removed from the compartment upon retraction of the ram.

  • Patent number: 4235165
Abstract: A compactor packs waste material in an open top container which is adapted for movement inwardly and outwardly of a supporting frame. A ram unit is pivotally supported at one end by the frame with its other end being movable selectively to an extended position within the container, a retracted position above the container, and an intermediate position at the top of the container. A housing encases the ram unit and has an opening for feeding waste material into the container while the ram unit is in the intermediate position. A power unit is operatively connected to and moves the ram unit selectively to the extended, retracted and intermediate position.
