Abstract: A high performance classifier system for use in a pulverizer mill (e.g., a mill used to crush large coal particles into small particles). The classifier system includes a cylindrical extension member with a roughened interior surface. Other permitted features include a converging/diverging orifice on the interior surface of the mill body, curved classifier vanes at the upper end of the classifier, and tilted vanes between the mill housing and the upper end of the classifier. Improvements in efficiency of particle separation are achieved.
Abstract: A spring canister for use in a coal pulverizer to impart an axial load to a bracket assembly supporting a grinding wheel or roller. The axial load causes the bracket assembly to pivot downwardly to increase the grinding force between the wheel or roller and the grinding bowl.

Abstract: A brush-type mill sweep which is particularly suited for pyrite removal from the floor of a vertical spindle coal pulverizer. The mill sweep is secured at one end to the spindle or the shaft skirt, and the mill sweep includes a plurality of downwardly-extending cables which are flexible and resilient for removing ungrindable rejects from the floor of the pulverizer beneath the grinding bowl.
