Patents Assigned to Margaret Platt Borgen
  • Patent number: 7014280
Abstract: A display device having dual purpose shelving includes spaced apart end brackets and a pivotal shelf. The shelf pivots from an upstanding position to a horizontal position. Below the shelf are a pair of spaced apart rods one of which is fixed and the other of which is moveable. The moveable rod can move to a stored position below the shelf or it can be moved to an unstored position for receiving a plurality of vases between the two spaced apart rods.

  • Patent number: 6145942
Abstract: A cooled display case includes a plurality of walls enclosing a compartment for displaying merchandise. A door is fitted within a door opening of the cooling compartment and swings from a closed position to a first open position and a second open position. A door closer yieldably urges the door to the closed position whenever the door is in a position other than the second open position. The door closer yieldably holds the door against swinging movement whenever the door is in the second open position. The door closer includes a guide arm which rolls within a guide track mounted on the door, and a track stop is detachably mounted to the track to block movement of the guide member in the track to prevent the door from moving to its second open position. The method involves selectively removing the stop pin so that the door is free to move to its second open position.

  • Patent number: 5964512
Abstract: A cooled display case includes a housing enclosing a display compartment and having an opening providing access thereinto. An air stratifier panel divides the display compartment into an upper air well above the stratifier panel and a lower air well below the stratifier panel. The stratifier panel has a plurality of product holders capable of holding the products with the upper ends thereof above the stratifier panel in the upper air well. The stratifier panel also has air vents adjacent its edge for permitting cooled air to flow from the upper to lower air wells. An air recirculation passageway in the housing has an inlet in the lower air well of the display compartment and an outlet in the upper air well. A coil cools air passing through the passageway. A fan circulates the cooled air through the passageway and into the upper air well of the display compartment.

  • Patent number: 5927016
Abstract: A door closure system for one or more swinging doors includes, in its most basic form, a door closure assembly for a door pivotally mounted on a hinge axis in a door frame. The assembly includes a closure mechanism mounted on the door frame adjacent the door with a rotatable member extending therefrom, an elongated arm having a secured end fixed for rotation with a rotatable member and a free end extending alongside the door, and a roller wheel rotatably mounted on the free end of the arm and extending therefrom so as to overlap the door for engaging it and rolling about a wheel axis substantially parallel to the hinge axis when the door swings about the hinge axis from a first pivotal position to a second pivotal position. This door closure assembly can also be applied to a double swinging door by adding more closure mechanisms and interconnecting them for the desired synchronization. A stop for holding the door open to a set position can also be provided.

  • Patent number: 5086627
Abstract: A display case includes a display case housing having an open upper end. Fitted over the open upper end is a removable cooling unit which has an inlet opening and an outlet opening both in communication with the interior of the display case. The cooling unit draws air into the cooling unit, cools the air, and recirculates it into the display case. The cooling unit can be removed from the upper end of the housing for repair, and can be replaced with a similar unit so that the display case can continue to be used. A modified form of the invention includes a cooling unit which is insertable into the display compartment of the display case adjacent the bottom wall thereof.

  • Patent number: 4940297
Abstract: The product display device of the present invention comprises a cabinet frame having a front opening therein. Two or more doors are positioned in covering relation over the front opening so as to form an enclosed compartment within the cabinet frame. Each of the doors includes an upper edge, a lower edge, a latching edge, a hinge edge, a front face and a rear face. The doors are arranged in side-by-side relationship with one another with the hinge edge of one door being adjacent the latching edge of the other door. The hinge edges of the doors are hinged at their upper and lower ends to the cabinet frame. A stop member is attached to the hinge edge of the first door and includes a latch surface extending laterally from the hinge edge and being in facing relationship to the rear face of the latching edge of the other door. A seal is attached to the rear face of the second door and sealingly engages the latch surface of the stop member of the first door to form a seal therebetween.
