Abstract: Apparatus for blending and dispensing liquids, e.g., beverage concentrate and water, using cylinders and pistons, the apparatus including magnetic position sensors to terminate piston strokes, a mixing chamber including repeated flow restrictions and flow diverters, a beverage concentrate bag having an engageable structure at its top and a drainage portion at its bottom, a two-piece fitting for connecting the concentrate bag to a supply line to a cylinder, a bag support structure movable between an operational position in which the bag is suspended and a loading position in which the bag is supported along its side, a multiple piece piston rod threadedly connecting a piston between rod pieces, and a symmetrical arrangement of ports and an annular groove to symmetrically distribute liquid between a cylinder end wall and a piston against it.
Abstract: Described is a gas phase permeable filter and method for making same comprising the steps:1. providing a gas phase permeable substrate having opposite surfaces;2. applying an adhesive to one or both of the surfaces of the substrate;3. applying particulate gas phase odor-removing means to the adhesive coated surface or surfaces of the substrate;4. drying the adhesive; and5. assembling the substrate in a desired filter configuration wherein the outer surface of the filter is a surface of the substrate free of particulate gas phase odor-removing means and the inner surface of the filter is a surface of the substrate coated with the particulate gas phase odor-removing means adhesively secured thereto.

Abstract: A liquid discharge nozzle that dispenses liquid upon demand in a quantity that matches the volumetric capacity of the cup used to activate the nozzle. The nozzle has a first and second pair of diametrically opposed switch members that are disposed radially inwardly and outwardly, respectively, of an annular divider wall that depends to a bottom wall of the nozzle housing. The rim of a cup having a diameter less than the diameter of the divider wall engages the radially inwardly disposed switch members. The switch members, when so engaged or activated, make a call for service which results in the dispensing of the correct volume of liquid for that cup. The rim of a cup having a diameter greater than the diameter of the divider wall engages the radially outwardly positioned switch members which switch members when actuated cause liquid to be dispensed into the cup in the proper amount for that cup.
Abstract: A cover for hopper car hatch openings as provided by railroad car and freight handling equipment. Each hatch opening is provided with a peripherial seal located out of and beneath the hatch opening and a pressure releasing latch for securing the cover against the seal and locking the cover upon the hatch openings.
Abstract: An adjustable mobile antenna comprising a dielectric rod several feet in length, a loading coil comprising a conductive wire helically wound in close fashion along an upper portion of the length of the dielectric rod, a protective outer insulator jacket covering the loading coil and a major portion of the dielectric rod, and a dielectric sleeve mounted on the outside of the protective jacket and slidable thereon along the length of the loading coil to effect "dielectric loading" of the loading coil to control the frequency of the antenna.

Abstract: An attachment running board for light trucks comprising a depending mounting panel and a separate horizontal deck, both of extruded aluminum and attached to each other in an insert and socket connection, open bottom channels beneath the deck and flat-surfaced square-headed bolts attaching the channels to the transverse frame arms secured to the frame of the truck and accommodating attaching at any of a multiplicity of locations along the length of the deck to the frame arms without requiring any drilling of the deck.
Abstract: A microbe drain barrier for insertion in the drain of a sink or the like to prevent microorganisms from reentering the sink from the drain. The barrier includes a length of thin-walled heat-resistant, electrically non-conductive tubing having a heat conductivity in the axial direction of not more than about 3 Btu/hr/ft.sup.2 /.degree. F./ft. The barrier includes electric heating means for heating the tubing to an inner surface temperature sufficient to prevent the growth of microbes thereon. Connector pipes extend axially outwardly from the tubing for mounting the tubing in a drain pipe such that drainage through the drain pipe is required to pass through the tubing. The connector pipes are secured to the tubing by annular insulating rings which isolate the tubing and electric heating means from the connector pipes.
