Abstract: A system configured to automatically straighten a drill bit to within acceptable specifications is described herein. The drill bit straightening system described herein may include a drill bit holding assembly configured to hold a drill bit, one or more sensors configured to measure edge eccentricity of a shaft associated with the drill bit, a control unit configured to automatically control a straightening operation of the drill bit straightening system, and a drill bit pressing arm configured to straighten the drill bit by applying a force calculated based on one or more predictive models. The control unit may be configured to calculate force(s) to be applied to the drill bit using one or more predictive models.
Abstract: A finger cot intended for surgical use, and a method for manufacturing the finger cot. The finger cot is formed from two blanks, a first blank forms the back portion, and a second forms the palm face, sides and tip. The blanks are formed of materials to provide the desired degree of protection from cuts and punctures, balanced against the degree of sensitivity or tactility needed to perform a specific task. The second blank is place on a anvil having a cavity therein shaped like a finger. An insert is placed over the second blank and forced into the cavity to shape the second blank. A seam, surrounding the cavity, and located on the outside of the finger cot is formed by ultra sonic welding.
Abstract: A hand covering in the form of a glove which is water proof and provides protection against cutting, puncturing and lacerations as well as thermal insulation for protection against burning of the user's hand when grasping hot objects. A raised silicone pattern is formed on the palm portion of the glove to enhance the heat insulating and gripping abilities of the hand covering.
Abstract: A medical dressing for covering a wound, lesion, burn or similar injury is disclosed. The dressing comprises a material having at least three layers comprising: (a) a first inner layer which comprises a porous polyethylene film which enables moisture to be wicked away from the injury; (b) a second middle layer comprising an absorbent material for absorbing the moisture from the first layer; and (c) a third outer layer comprising a flexible, water-proof and breathable material.
Abstract: A hanger for securing a pair of gloves to each other and for hanging the pair of gloves from a peg. A hanger is formed with a hook, and a pair of ribs are provided on a pair of members which are spring loaded toward each other such that the ribs will engage the gloves therebetween to secure the gloves to each other and to the clip. A fastener is passed through a hole formed in each of the pair of members so as to prevent the ribs from being disengaged from each other unless the fastener is destroyed.
Abstract: The invention provides heated gloves. A battery saver circuit applies heat with a temperature responsive pulse width modulation that changes the duty cycle at which heat is applied to the glove. The battery saver circuit is part of a battery pack which is mounted on the back of the glove. A reflective foil is contained within the glove for directing heat toward the wearer's hand.
