  • Patent number: 6886473
Abstract: A rail car door closer is provided and includes a movable base having a rotatable member rotationally disposed thereon. The movable base is coupled to a drive system configured to translate the movable base along a rail or a track disposed adjacent a railroad track rail. A device is also provided to permit securement of the rotatable member in a substantially upright position. When the rotatable member is in the substantially upright position, it is positioned vertically to contact an open rail car door and, upon movement of the movable base to a position adjacent and beneath the open rail car door, the rotatable member contacts the open rail car door and subsequently moves the open rail car door in correspondence with a movement of the movable base.

  • Patent number: 6546352
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing multiple ratio analysis of aggregate particles, wherein the method includes the steps of measuring a first maximum dimension of a particle, measuring a second maximum dimension of a particle in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first maximum dimension, and inputting the first maximum dimension and second maximum dimension into a computer having a processor. Using the computer, a particle ratio of the first maximum dimension to the second maximum dimension for the measured particle is computed and the particle ratio is classified into one of a predetermined plurality of different ratio ranges, each of these plurality of different ratios representative of a different range of particle shapes.

  • Publication number: 20030046779
Abstract: A load bearing support structure in the form of a traffic-bearing highway bridge including at least one modular structural section. The at least one modular structural section includes at least one beam, the beam comprising a pair of lateral flanges and a medial web between and extending below the flanges. The beam preferably has a flat floor. A load bearing deck is positioned above and supported by the flanges of the at least one beam. The beam and load bearing deck are preferably formed of a polymer matrix composite material. The beam is positioned on and supported by one of a plurality of support members. The beam has a contoured shape configured to be matably supported by a support member having a reciprocally configured contoured shaped. Alternatively, a flat or L-shape support member can be utilized. Further alternatively, the load bearing deck comprising at least one sandwich panel is suitable for applications such as barge decks, hatchcovers, and other load bearing wall applications.

  • Patent number: 6467118
Abstract: A load bearing deck structure is made from at least one sandwich panel formed of a ploymer matrix composite material. The sandwich panel comprises a plurality of substantially hollow, elongated core members having side walls, the core members being provided with an upper facesheet and a lower facesheet. Each facesheet is formed integrally with the side walls of the core members and at least one of the side walls is disposed at an oblique angle to one of the upper and lower facesheets so that the side walls and facesheets define a polygonal shape when viewed in cross section.

  • Patent number: 6213418
Abstract: A variable throw eccentric cone crusher. The cone crusher comprises a frame, a crusher head supported on the frame for gyration about a first axis, a bowl supported on the frame in spaced relation to the crusher head, and a mechanism on the frame for varying the eccentricity of the gyration of the crusher head. An eccentric member engages the crusher head and is eccentrically pivotable about a second axis radially offset from the first axis. The eccentric member is adjustable to vary the eccentricity of the gyration of the crusher head.

  • Patent number: 6145390
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring dimensions of particles includes a base. At least three fixed posts are mounted to the base. A swinging arm is pivotally mounted to the base about a pivot point. The swinging arm has a first section mated with a first of the at least three fixed posts, a second arm mated with a second and a third of the at least three fixed posts, and a third section connecting the first and second sections. The first section has a first length and the second section has a second length. A first opening is formed when the first section and the first fixed post are not in contact. Second and third openings are formed when the second section does not contact the second and third fixed posts.
