Abstract: A closure lock for a folding door having top and bottom locking bars in the tubular post at the leading end of the door. The locking bars are normally biased to an unlocked position within the door. The bars can be manually moved to project from the ends of the post in a locked position. A single locking finger in the post automatically holds the locking bars in their locked position. A cylinder lock on each side of the post can be operated to move the locking finger to a position allowing the locking bars to withdraw to an unlocked position.

Abstract: An insulated panel for rolling closures. The panel has a front wall and a back wall joined by side walls, and is filled with insulation. The side walls have thermal breaks formed by spacers. The size of the spacers can vary to vary the thickness of the panel. The panel has a hinge socket formed in the back wall adjacent one side wall. An extension of the back wall, projecting past the other side wall, carries a hinge pintle.
Abstract: A rolling firedoor having a closure drum on which a closure is wound, and a chaindrive for rotating the drum to raise or lower the closure. The chaindrive is disconnected from the drum during a fire. Means are provided for reconnecting the chaindrive to the drum from the ground so that the door can be raised in an emergency.
Abstract: A barrel ring for use in rolling closures comprising at least two ring sections. One of the ring sections defines a part-circular outer surface. Another of the ring sections defines a part-spiral outer surface. The ring sections are joined together end-to-end to form a barrel ring with the part-spiral surface, at one end, merging smoothly into the part-circular surface.A method for producing the barrel ring is also disclosed.
Abstract: An insulated closure panel for a rolling closure. The panel has a metallic section with an outer wall and side walls, and a thermoplastic section with an inner wall. Both panel sections have male and female hinge sections on their sides. The thermoplastic panel section snaps into the metallic panel section to form a tubular panel with the male hinge sections cooperating to form a male hinge element on one side of the panel and with the female hinge sections cooperating to form a female hinge element on the other side of the panel. The panel can be filled with insulating material.A rolling closure is formed from a plurality of the above panels, the male hinge element of each panel pivotally connected to the female hinge element of an adjacent panel.
Abstract: Rolling closure guide means. The guide means comprise two vertical guide members for use in guiding the edges of a rolling closure during opening or closing operations. Two guide strips are mounted on each guide member for guiding the edge of the closure between them. In one embodiment, the guide strips are manufactured in different thicknesses so that strips of the appropriate thickness, depending on the thickness of the closure, can be mounted on the guide members to guide the closure. In another embodiment, guide strips of only one thickness are used, along with one or more spacers if needed, to guide closures of different thickness in the guide members.
Abstract: Sealing means for the bottom of a rolling closure which sealing means can be adjustably mounted on the closure. The adjustable mounting provides a seal of substantially uniform size irregardless of which one of several panel thicknesses make up the closure.
Abstract: A folding closure assembly for closing an opening. The assembly includes a track installed along the top of the opening, and a folding closure unit made up of a plurality of folding closure sections. Each closure section comprises a plurality of closure panels pivotably connected together. Each section is separately mounted on the track to be movably suspended therefrom. Means are provided on each side edge of the sections for joining the mounted sections together to form the folding closure unit.The invention also covers the method of installing the folding closure assembly.
Abstract: This invention is directed toward improvements in closure hinges of the type employing curved hinge sections which rotatably interconnect. A rigid link is employed at the ends of the hinge to help retain the hinge sections interconnected. Existing hinge elements are used to connect the links to the hinge. Fasteners are employed to prevent the hinge sections from moving longitudinally with respect to each other. Spacer elements are provided to prevent the fasteners from binding on the hinge sections.
Abstract: A hinge having first and second elongated hinge members. The two hinge members rotate one within the other between open and closed positions. The hinge members are constructed to avoid any longitudinal gaps between the hinge members in either the open or closed positions.
