Abstract: A golf club shaft has a grip portion at which the shaft is to be fitted with a grip, and a tip at which the shaft is to be connected to a club head. The grip portion of the shaft and the neighborhood thereof are made of a composite material comprising a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin layer and a metal layer, while the remaining portion is made of a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin.

Abstract: A golf club grip has a double-layer structure comprising an inner layer and an outer layer aminated on the outer surface of the inner layer. One of the inner and outer layers is made of a first material, while the other layer is made of a second material. The first material has an elasticity which is higher than that of the second material so that the first material is more readily elastically deformable than the second material, while the second material has a viscoelasticity which is higher than that of the first material.

Abstract: A golf wood clubhead has a body having face and sole portions which define a leading edge therebetween. The width from the leading edge of the head body to the rear end of the sole portion is nearly equal to or less than a half of the width from the leading edge of the head body to the rear end thereof. The head body may have a rounded lower back portion of a certain radius of curvature within a region from the rear end of the sole portion to the rear end of the head body. The sole portion may have a rounded surface of the same radius of curvature as that of the rounded lower back portion.

Abstract: A club head for a golf iron club comprises a head body having an inclined face, a back, and a sole, and heel and toe ends. A neck is connected in one piece with the head body at the heel end thereof for attaching thereto a club shaft. The head body is provided at the intersection of the face and sole thereof with a knife-edged leading edge.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved putter whose head and grip weighs 320 to 360 grams and 100 to 260 grams, respectively. The total weight of the head and grip ranges from 445 to 585 grams. The grip-and-head weighting according to the present invention has the effect of improving the rolling of the ball to extend the rolling-and-running distance of the ball; and improving the stableness and directionality of the swing.

Abstract: A swing analyzing device comprising swing practice equipment such as a golf club, wherein acceleration sensors are arranged on the shaft or on an axis of the swing practice equipment, or near the axis, and a dynamic quantity representing a movement of the shaft, such as an angular velocity, angular acceleration, and angle of the shaft, is calculated from an output of the acceleration sensors. The acceleration sensors are preferably arranged on the shaft in a spaced apart relationship so that directions of detecting acceleration substantially coincide with an axis of the shaft. A further acceleration sensor can be arranged on the shaft so that a direction of detecting acceleration forms a certain angle with an axis of said shaft.

A member is provided in the shaft for increasing a response to the impact. For example, materials having a high elastic modulus under impact is inserted or a section modulus of the shaft is rearranged in the bendable portion. Accordingly, a lower portion of the shaft is initially bent backward relative to the remaining portion of the shaft and then is moved rapidly forward to cause the head to advance while in contact with the golf ball.

Abstract: A golf practice device comprising a mat with at least two sensors arranged therein in the direction of a swing orbit of a head of a golf club. A swing time substantially from a start of a back swing to a point of an impact with a golf ball is calculated in response to signals output by the sensors, and the result is indicated so that a golfer can observe same and thus achieve a stable swing. It is possible to distinguish an address motion and an actual swing before impact by adapting a special combination of the outputs of the two sensors.

In an iron golf club set, the thickness of the hosel pocket wall is made smaller to thin the surface of the wall on the side of the hitting surface as the length of the shaft becomes shorter.

Abstract: A golf club head is disclosed which comprises a body made of a fiber-reinforced plastic having a back side, a club face, a sole and a hosel. A weight member having a nearly circular configuration is located adjacent to the inner circumference of the back side and at a position lower than the vertical centerline of the club face and a reinforcing member is located adjacent to the inside of the club face.
