  • Patent number: 5133595
Abstract: The length-adjustable spectacle temple includes at least two temple parts one of which is axially displaceable in a sleeve and is fixable in different positions. For this purpose, one of the temple parts is configured as a sleeve at least in one portion thereof. This sleeve has an axially extending slot for a latching slide adjustable axially in two positions. A spring element provided with a detent is disposed in the sleeve. A second temple part is so configured that it can be inserted in the first temple part. This second temple part has indexing recesses axially arranged on the insertable end and is configured to resiliently latch the detent. The latching slide completely covers the slot at least in the latched condition. The latching slide has a pressure body with which it latches the detent in a corresponding indexing recess in one of its two possible positions whereas the latching slide in its second position does not offer any resistance to movement of the two temple parts with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4963013
Abstract: Protective spectacles have a protective shield, fitted in the temple region, to protect the eyes from dust, etc., coming from the side. According to West German Industrial Standards, DIN, a predetermined degree of sealing must be maintained, according to the purpose of use, between it and the spectacle frame. Protective shields attached rigidly to the frame are cumbersome. The protective shield is firmly connected by its upper edge region to the associated spectacle earpiece. It is thus pivoted away together with the earpiece. Its forward edge seals with the spectacle frame with a predetermined degree of sealing. So that this is not impaired by adjustment of the inclination, the earpiece has a bending zone behind the protective shield. The inclination is adjusted by bending the earpiece. The invention may be used for protective spectacles in the industrial and private fields.

  • Patent number: 4946268
Abstract: The invention relates to a spectacle temple adjustable in length and made of several parts. One of the temple parts has a sleeve-shaped section into which a second temple part is inserted so as to be adjustable in length. This second temple part has indexing recesses on its portion which is inserted into the sleeve. At least one of these recesses is accessible through a cutout in the sleeve for a spring element insertable into the sleeve. The spring element form-tightly engages with one portion into the accessible indexing recess and thereby latches the two spectacle parts to each other.

  • Patent number: 4802754
Abstract: A spectacle frame has pad legs formed in the region of the nose flanks of the nose of the person wearing the spectacles. A soft-pad system includes soft pads for insertion in corresponding recesses formed in the pad legs. The soft pads serve to brace the spectacle frame on the nose of the person wearing the spectacles in a soft and slip-free manner. In order to take account of the different anatomical conditions that occur when fitting spectacles, the pads can be so configured that they have different thicknesses at different locations on their bearing surface. In this way, a soft-pad system is provided which includes a plurality of soft pads in which each pad of a pair of pads is identical and each pad pair is configured differently. For each situation, a single pad pair will be inserted into the spectacle frame with the pad pair configured in correspondence with the anatomical requirements.

  • Patent number: 4792222
Abstract: A pad system for supporting a spectacle frame on the bridge of the nose of the wearer includes a pad arm fastened to the spectacle frame in the area of the root of the nose of the wearer. The pad arm has a generally rectangular cross section at the outer end thereof for fastening the pad which has a rectangular blind hole for receiving the outer end of the pad arm. The blind hole is configured such that the longitudinal axes of the cross sections of the blind hole and the pad conjointly define an acute angle. Additionally, it is advantageous to place the blind hole outside of the center axis of the pad. By pushing the pad onto the pad arm in different positions, a spectacle frame with rigid pad arms can easily be adapted to the anatomical actualities of different facial shapes.
