  • Patent number: 4642150
Abstract: Uniform lengths of elastic tape are secured to a continuously advancing mrial web, for example, to make baby diapers. First an intermittently advancing tape is repeatedly gathered, for example, by laying tape sections into a depression of defined dimensions, to relieve the tape sections of any stretching. This assures tape sections of uniform length which are then stretched, cut and applied to the material web, for example, by an adhesive bonding. The apparatus used for performing these steps has several cooperating rollers of which the first has the depressions in its surface and is rotated intermittently while the second roller is rotated continuously. The spacings between neighboring tape sections bonded to the web preferably have a uniform length.

  • Patent number: 4320893
Abstract: There is disclosed transport apparatus for transporting flexible sheet-like articles, especially envelopes. The apparatus comprises a transport cylinder, which is mounted on a shaft rotatably journalled in a frame and which comprises two cylindrical body portions. The body portions are each provided with axial suction ducts with outlet openings communicating with the circumferential surfaces of the body portions. The body portions are provided at their mutually remote ends with bores into which project bushes, which are mounted to the frame to be secure against rotation. A suction device is connected in a certain rotational position of the cylinder, through passages which are provided in the bushes and open at the circumferential surfaces of the bushes, with the suction ducts of the cylinder body portions. In another rotational position of the cylinder, the suction ducts of the body portions are ventilated by the bushes. The apparatus is capable of high operating speeds with minimum noise production.

  • Patent number: 4207726
Abstract: An implement particularly for harvesting corn stalks including a pair of ight counter rotating conveying rollers which define therebetween a cutting station to which crop material is conveyed by stalk guides, with the conveying rollers having knives radially extending therefrom and blades located above the knives. A counter-knife cooperates with the knives to cut the crop material which is then engaged by the blades and propelled rearwardly to a plurality of feed rollers rotating about horizontal axes. The blades are formed with rearwardly curved leading edges and axially extending conveying members are provided on the conveying rollers above the blades. The blades and the knives are angularly arranged about the conveying rollers to be alternately passed through the cutting station during rotation of the conveying rollers.
