  • Patent number: 7905079
Abstract: A feeding and picking device having a rotating feeding device that is rotated about a vertical axis. The device is able to work in fields not planted in rows and is designed to grasp plant stalks and feed them into a picking device. The picking device comprises a snapping channel formed by snapping bars under which is located at least one snapping roll. The feeding device comprises a disc having fingers that overlap the snapping channel. The feeding device is therefore designed to transport the plant throughout the effective length of the picking device.

  • Patent number: 7578118
Abstract: A machine for harvesting crops having stalks includes a plurality of mowing and intake devices for cutting and conveying the crop through a transverse conveying channel in a direction toward a longitudinal midplane of the machine. On each side of the midplane there is provided a deflection channel, which curves rearward in an arc from a direction extending perpendicular to a forward direction of travel of the machine toward an intake channel arranged along the midplane at a rear side of the machine. A deflection conveying drum is arranged adjacent a rear side of the deflection channel to convey the crop coming from the transverse conveying through the deflection channel. An additional conveying wheel, which moves relative to, and has drivers sweeping through, the deflection channel is formed separate from the mowing and intake devices and is arranged on the same side of the midplane as the deflection conveying drum, but has an axis of rotation forward of a forward side of the deflection channel.

  • Patent number: 7493745
Abstract: An intake and plucking arrangement comprises a rotatable intake device that grasps a standing plant and directs it to a plucking gap. The plucking gap is located above parallel first and second stalk rolls that pull the stalk of the plant downwardly so that the plucking gap can separate the useful parts of the plant from the stalk. The upstream end of the first stalk roll is provided with a lower screw conveyor. A conveyor element is drivingly connected to the screw conveyor. The conveying element comprises an upper screw conveyor that is located above the lower screw conveyor. Both screw conveyors are located upstream from and above the inlet end of the plucking slot. The conveying element working in conjunction with the rotatable intake device direct standing plants into the plucking slot.

  • Patent number: 7478520
Abstract: A machine for the harvest of stalk-like plants is provided. The machine has a frame, two conveying elements supported on the frame and arranged one above the other with recesses distributed around their circumference for taking up and conveying a flow of crop that includes plant stalks. A stripper extends into the intervening space between the conveying elements in order to move the plant stalks out of the recesses. The stripper is connected to the frame by a free-standing post that extends vertically and is arranged outside the flow of the crop conveyed by the conveying elements. A point of the stripper interacts with the conveying elements located to the rear of the axis of rotation of the conveying elements relative to the forward operating direction of the machine.

  • Patent number: 7360351
Abstract: A front harvesting attachment for a self-propelled harvesting machine having a central part pivotally mounted onto an intake channel of the harvesting machine, side parts that are moveable relative to the central part between an operating position, wherein the side parts are positioned on either side of the central part, and a raised transport position. Adjusting devices move the side parts between the operation and raised transport positions. Immobilizing devices selectively prevent movement of the front harvesting attachment relative to the intake channel during transport of the harvesting attachment. The immobilizing devices are coupled to the adjusting devices such that the immobilizing devices are actuated, thereby preventing movement of the front harvesting attachment relative to the intake channel, when the adjusting devices have moved the side parts to the raised transport position.

  • Patent number: 7237373
Abstract: A stalk roll for a harvesting device for harvesting crop heads of stalk-like plants. The stalk roll is provided with a roll body having projecting drivers distributed around its periphery. The pull-in speed of the stalk rolls in a picking region where the crop heads are removed is less than in a region of the stalk rolls situated farther downstream after the crop head has been removed. The diameter of the roll body in the picking region is greater than in the region situated farther downstream. In addition, it is proposed that upstream of a picking region the stalk roll have an inlet region which cooperates with the parts of the plants beneath the crop heads, where the pull-in speed of the stalk roll is greater than in the picking region.

  • Patent number: 7165384
Abstract: A combination of a harvesting machine, a crop picking head, and a vehicle to support the crop picking head. The vehicle features a mount and at least one wheel extending down from the mount that supports the crop picking head and alleviates the weight on the front wheels of the self-propelled harvesting machine when driving on the road. The vehicle is attached to the crop picking head when driving on the road and detached from the crop picking head when harvesting a field. The crop picking head includes a support frame which supports the harvesting equipment. In the preferred design, the mount is connected such that the support forces of the vehicle pass directly to the support frame rather than load more fragile components of the crop picking head.

  • Patent number: 7162855
Abstract: A harvesting header comprising a center frame section and two outer frame sections. The outer frame sections can pivot relative to the center frame section between an operating position and a transport position. The center frame section and the outer frame sections carry collection devices for gathering crops and there is a separating point that moves automatically between an operating position and a transport position in the pivot region between the center frame section and the outer frame sections. The separating points arranged in the pivot region between the center frame section and the outer frame sections move between the operating position and the transport position in the horizontal direction perpendicular to the direction of travel and/or to pivot about the height axis.
