Patents Assigned to Massey Ferguson Manufacturing Limited
  • Patent number: 5720687
Abstract: A CVT having a variator unit, epicyclic unit for plural ratio combinations, plural regime engagin couplers, a clutch and an output shaft. The epicyclic unit includes a splitting epicyclic gear and two components of the splitter is connected to the oppsite ends of the variator. The epicyclic unit having plural connections to the drive output shaft through the regime engaging couplers. The epicyclic unit also includes a recirculating epicyclic which has two components commoned with two components of the splitter epicyclic. The recirculating epicyclic provides an additional output which is connectable to the output shaft to provide at least one creep regime. The clutch can either be locked when starting with the creep regime operative or slippingly engaged when starting with the creep regime non-operative.

  • Patent number: 5613728
Abstract: A vehicle cab with a roof hatch (12) which comprises front and rear hatch sections (14) and (16), the rear section (14) being over an escape hatchway (26) and the front section (16) being over an equipment access hatchway (28) of a roof compartment. The front hatch section (16) is mounted on a front roof section (10a) along its forward edge by hinges (18), and releasably latched to a middle roof section (10c) along its rearward edge by secondary latches (22). The rear hatch section (14) is mounted on the rearward edge of the front hatch section (16) by hinges (20), and releasably latched to the rear roof section (10b) by a primary latch (40). The primary catch (40) may be released and the rear hatch section (14) may be partially opened and retained with rear stays (64) to provide ventilation. The rear stays (64) may then be automatically released when the rear hatch section (14) is pushed past the retention point to fully open the escape hatchway (26).

  • Patent number: 5584347
Abstract: An arrangement for sensing the draft force on a linkage such as a tractor three-point linkage comprises a backplate (12) with flexible webs (16) extending from it.Depending from the webs (16) are spurs (18) which, at their lower end, join each other and form a rearwardly extending member (24). A bore (15) extends through the backplate (12) and rearwardly extending member (24), in which a force sensing pin (30) is received. The bracket may be made from a single casting.

  • Patent number: 5480014
Abstract: A double clutch structure for connecting an input shaft to an output shaft while always maintaining a predetermined driving torque therebetween includes first and second clutches adapted to selectively connect the input shaft to the output shaft. An engaging structure is movable in a first direction to engage the first clutch and disengage said second clutch. The engaging structure is movable in a second direction to disengage the first clutch and engage the second clutch. A first Belleville spring reacts between the engagement structure and the first clutch for applying a clutch engaging pressure to the first clutch when the engagement structure is moved in the first direction. Similarly, a second Belleville spring reacts between the engagement structure and the second clutch for applying a clutch engaging pressure to the second clutch when the engagement structure is moved in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 5441136
Abstract: A braking facility is described for a four wheel drive vehicle having front and rear axles with front and rear pairs of wheels, an engine driving the rear wheels and also connectable to the front wheels via a four wheel drive clutch, and left and right hand brakes on the rear axle operated by a main brake actuating system. The braking facility includes a hand brake lever which operates the left and right rear brakes via a system independent from the main brake actuating system. It also includes a sensor associated with the hand brake lever and arranged to engage automatically the four wheel drive clutch when the hand brake is operated to provide a hand brake lever operated braking facility connected to all four wheels which is independent of the main brake operating system and which is operable when the vehicle is in motion.
