Abstract: Crop gathering table for a combine has an auger to move crop laterally inwards towards the center of the table. The auger has a central shaft carrying helical flights, and discharge fingers to discharge crop through an opening in the rear of the table. A series of crop feeding plates mounted on the auger and extending lengthwise of it between portions of the helical flights, promote smooth flow of crop below the auger shaft.
Abstract: A tractor drawbar terminates in a hook. An adaptor is provided to convert the hook into a clevis. The adaptor encompasses the hook and bears against a portion of it to inhibit movement in a vertical direction.
Abstract: A prime mover assembly comprising a prime mover and a control therefor, said control having a lever movable in a first plane to vary the rotational speed of said prime mover and movable in a second plane to stop said prime mover.
Abstract: Seed drill has a row of coulters which are raised and lowered by a beam extending along and above the row of coulters and connected to the coulters by spring assemblies. The beam is raised and lowered relative to the frame of the drill by two rams to actuate the coulters. The mounting of the beam comprises an articulated joint, such as a ball joint, which permits the ends of the beam to rise and fall independently of each other relative to the frame thereby permitting improved contour following by the coulters and avoiding excessive loads on the beam in the event of failure of one of the rams.
Abstract: Trash removal apparatus in a sugar cane harvester comprises an axial flow extractor fan having multiple blades to draw trash out of harvested cane and to discharge it through a duct on the pressure side of the fan. The duct is in the form of a helical trash guide member which collects the trash out of the air flow and discharges the trash laterally. The diameter of the fan blades is chosen so as to leave a relatively large annular gap between their ends and the wall of the duct through which most of the trash passes thereby reducing power consumption by the fan.
Abstract: Sugar cane harvester has stick alignment device mounted at forward end of harvester crop feed passage to promote longitudinal alignment of canes with said passage. The device comprises an arm mounted centrally in the passage and carrying driven sprockets and a chain. Cane stick engaging bars project from the chain to comb cane sticks into alignment with the passage.
Abstract: A sugar cane harvester has power-rotated rollers to convey severed cane sticks between stick-serving base cutters and stick dividing choppers. The rollers extend across the path of the cane sticks and at least one of the rollers below the cane path has stick-engaging paddles of differing radial lengths whereby the cane sticks are shaken up and down to dislodge earth mixed with the mat of cane sticks.
Abstract: Seed drill has a row of coulters which are raised and lowered by a beam positioned above the coulters and connected to the coulters by spring assemblies. The beam is journalled for pivotal movement about its longitudinal axis and the spring assemblies are connected to the beam so that some exert reaction forces on the beam having clockwise moments about the beam's pivot axis, and others anticlockwise moments, whereby changes in loading of the coulters can be distributed between the coulters by angular movement of the beam about its pivot axis.
Abstract: A tractor draft load sensing apparatus in which a pair of draft links are pivotally connected to opposite end portions of a bar which extends transversely across the tractor and is supported thereon at spaced locations so that draft loads imposed on the links cause flexing of the bar. A tube is rotatably mounted on the bar and extends therealong while draft load signalling means are attached to the tube for rotation therewith. The tube is operatively associated with the tractor so that flexing of the tube, caused by the imposition of draft loads, results in rotation of the tube and hence the signalling means about the bar.
Abstract: Rotary cultivator having resilient vibration damper acting between the cultivator's drive and a reaction member, to absorb vibration generated by varying torque reaction exerted on the drive during use.
Abstract: A control assembly for a vehicle transmission comprising a control member pivotable about a first axis between at least two discrete positions for selecting different drive speeds of the transmission and about a second axis between two outer positions and an intermediate position for selecting forward, reverse and neutral drive conditions respectively.
Abstract: For use in ROPS, a square section tube-type truss or support is reinforced by a round-section tube which fits snuggly into the first tube (or vice versa). The reinforcement enables the use of only one roll-over frame and the use of the same cab assemblies on light and heavy machines.
Abstract: In a crawler vehicle having a rear housing or frame: a pair of hydrostatic transmission pumps located on the center line of the crawler are connected to a pair of motors arranged along the transverse axis by a manifold to form a cruciform unit. The cruciform unit is mounted in the rear housing.
Abstract: Trash removal apparatus in a sugar cane harvester comprises an axial flow extractor fan to draw trash out of harvested cane and to discharge it through a duct on the pressure side of the fan. The duct is in the form of a helical trash guide member which collects the trash out of the air flow and discharges the trash laterally. The trash guide member is mounted for pivotal movement about the duct axis and a mechanism is provided for turning it to discharge trash in a desired direction.
Abstract: In a crawler having a rear housing or frame a pair of hydrostatic transmission pumps are mounted back-to-back and interconnected by a manifold which acts as a mounting for the pumps on to the rear housing. One pump is located within the rear housing and the other pump is outside.
Abstract: An adaptor for converting a drawbar hook into a clevis bears against a portion of the hook to inhibit movement in a vertical direction. A pin is used to connect the adaptor to the drawbar. The adaptor is shaped so that it is reversible to provide different heights for the clevis.
Abstract: Air intake for trash removal apparatus of a cane harvester. The air intake forms the lower portion of the housing of the trash removal apparatus and also serves to guide cane billets into the hopper of a pivotally-mounted billet discharge conveyor. The air intake is formed as a deflectible air permeable curtain of perforated rubber sheeting which avoids both damage to the air intake and jamming of the conveyor during use.
Abstract: Support bearing to receive the ends of a crawler front traverse for fastening to the track roller frame, the bearing support comprising a pin with ball joint arranged in a completely sealed housing and forming a self-contained pre-fabricated unit which according to production requirements is fitted to the traverse or to the track frame prior to assembly. Joint allows axial movement to accommodate kinematics of support linkage.
Abstract: In a crawler vehicle having a rear housing or frame a splitter gearbox and double hydraulic pump for a hydrostatic transmission are mounted on the front flange of the rear housing for ease of servicing and plumbing. A single driveshaft from the engine drives the gearbox and an extra pump may be mounted on the splitter gearbox. The single driveshaft may constitute a power-take-off drive.
Abstract: A control arrangement for a pair of valves in which a control member is pivoted on the control lever of a first valve for movement normal to movement of first control lever. A link interconnects control member and U-shaped control lever of second valve so that movement of control member about pivot causes movement of second valve.
